I have a dry erase board in my room that I have specials on every month. Last month I did eye and lip treatments. I also do monthly specials that I send out to my email list (plus its on my website) but this board is separate from that. I am so exhausted from not sleeping that my brain cannot function properly. I just can't come up with anything to write on this board. I have been staring at it for the past hour waiting for something to hit me but nothing. I usually like it to be something that people can add on to a facial or any service.

Does anyone have any ideas for me? I've gone dumb! :(

Thank you!!

I recently stumbled across a marketing book that is specifically for salons & spas; you might find it helpful. It's called "12 Months of Marketing for Salon & Spa" by Elizabeth Kraus. She has ideas for every month. I'm still a student, but from a client viewpoint, I'd suggest hand & foot treatments with warmers for this time of year. Personally, I like EcoFin (available from Universal Companies). It's nice and cozy & they have a variety of scents!

Cricket Enos recently introduced her Pumpkin Pie hard wax. It smells delicious (& works great). :-) Maybe that could be a special seasonal wax treatment for your clients?

Hope that is helpful Devyn. Good luck!

Ya, turn the board backwards, stop thinking about it for the moment and then the perfect thing will pop into your brain! :) Seriously, sometimes, we just get stuck and nothing fresh comes to mind.

Feet, nIce cream w/ a couple drops of peppermint, wrapped in hot towels and bagged up 10-15 minutes. Or hands and use Lavender. Cold stone finish on facial to help close up the pores. Scalp massage-I tend to be very careful and wash hands or sanitize then do little tiny circles all over, doesn't mess up the hair!

Some peels work really well on rough skinned feet.

What if you don't have specials on it but inspirational sayings each week or each month, or daily for that matter.  One thing I realized early on...I was trying to come up with specials and different things and it's way too much.  Maybe just have a summer special, fall special that goes for a few months at a time...then if there are certain things that fall within that time like this is Breast Ca awareness month so I am offering a free mini facial to anyone going through treatment or is a survivor.

Maybe decorate it for the month, like Oct is Halloween, Nov-Thanksgiving, Dec-Holidays, Jan-New Year, Feb Vday, March St Patricks day, April (usually Easter), May-maybe just flowers for spring, etc....Just a thought.

I actually bought some dry erase boards when I first started....I wrote one time on them and the rain washed it away so I just neatly tucked them away and never pulled them out again.  LOL.

LOL! Sheila beat me to it! if you can't come up with a "special" just share a special inspirational quote.

I do that on my personal facebook page all the time.

I also bought Elizabeth's book - 12 Months of marketing - it's great for brainstorming.

I like the aromatherapy idea - you can often design an add-on based on scent...my easiest fall back service is a foot treatment...usually a scrub with a butter cream finish - you can wrap their feet in warm towels or warm booties...all I have to do is pick a scent (my fave is chocolate with mint...smells like a york peppermint pattie...yumm)

Oh - and it's okay to skip a month...sometimes you just are NOT inspired.  I actually keep a notebook with ideas for specials - usually a theme - but often a specific service. So if I am stumped I can flip thru my book to see if anything sounds good.

what about add-ons like:

Eyebrow tinting

eyelash tinting

hand treatment (when mask is on)

You could also pick an aromatherapy scent for each month and make the "scent of the month" an optional extra with any of the other ideas people have already mentioned. Or don't make it an add-on at all, just add it into the cost of every service but show people several different ones on a list so they can enjoy choosing.

I love this idea of a scent of the month offer to the clients ! I'm gonna try that :)

Thanks for all the ideas, ladies! I will definitely be using one of them. I did check out that book too and purchased it. The more ideas the better. :)

The book is good Devyn...but don't read too much at one sitting.  It makes your head spin!

Thanks for the advice, Cindy. I have a tendency to do that with stuff like that. :)
