Hello all~

I have been approached by Living Social wanting me to run a deal with them.  I own a day spa and they want me to run a massage deal. My problem with that is it opens the door to anyone (including a certain type of client).  I can't filter the "weird" calls because they paid for the deal. I guess what I really want to know is how safe is it? My practice is 4 lady therapists and we are set in an office type setting. What is your experience or thoughts on this?  I want safety before service.  Thanks for any input!

If you are established then you don't need that kind of nonsense.

If you have a good client list, then go ahead and run a special on YOUR terms.

I have run a Living Social special and have been involved with companies that have done Groupon. The client return % is just not there to make it worth it. The clientele that I saw with my Living Social promotion was high caliber though...they are still motivated primarily by price and are always shopping for the next deal - which makes it much more challenging to gain their loyalty.

Here is a link to a blog story by Constant Contact regarding that kind of "deal".

(I have no affiliation with Constant Contact - but I have looked at their "Save Local" promotions - and it looks great! You only pay out $1 to $3 for every deal - instead of 50%....but you DO need to have a good sized client list.)

Thanks Cindy for the the link. I will check it out! Also, thank you for responding. :)

Another option if you want to do the work is TheGiftCardCafe.com It is an online gift certificate company and you can do your own daily deals. The down side is you would have to use your own client list as they do not promote like the other. So you would be marketing to your own clients or on a Facebook fan page. I am small so it would work for me.

A big NO.....Definitely not worth it for massage!! Safety first and then it's just too much work on your part for very little in return.
