Hey everyone,

I feel like I've been blowing up this Forum since I joined yesterday. I'm really glad I found it. I had been doing a lot of reading on the salongeek.com forum (for the UK) but was excited to find a way to connect with Estys in my own country!

ANYWAY- I'm thinking of investing in some new equipment in 2013.

I've been looing into the Hydrfacial touch system - which has the diamond tip, lymphatic and LED along with the actual hydrafacial exfoliation (The rep has a demo unit for $22K Eeek! Super expensive for a demo!).

As far as microcurrent goes, I'm looking at the CACI Ultimate (with diamond microderm and LED), the Diamond Medilift, and the Hydrodermie.

I also have requested information from Bio-Theraputics on all of their offerings.

I like the idea of the Hydrafacial and CACI because it is so nice to have multiple functions in one machine. I have a somwhat small space to work in and hate to have a bunch of machines sitting around taking up room. Wish that Edge systems had a microcurrent function to add to the Hydrafacial.

I would really love to hear from anyone who has experience with these modalities or the specific companies/machines. It is so overwhelming to try and figure out what is marketing hype vs. what will offer true results for clients. Also, so many of these companies want you to use their products with the machines, you have to try and calculate how that will add to the cost of an already rather large investement in equipment. It is SO frustrating!

How do you feel about the ROI on these paticular offerings? How have clients responded? I'm looking to get the most bang for my buck, stay current with the new therapies that clients are asking about, and get great results for my clientele.

I'm also planning on adding Oxygen this year- any preferred brands? The spa I worked at for years before starting my business used Echo2, and I liked it, but am open to suggestion.

Thanks in advance for any advice/thoughts on this matter..

I would probably invest in BT again. I lucked out and got the V1 BT BioHydroderm. It is basically identical to the HF, so much so that Edge Systems forced them to quit manufacturing it and they came out with the V2. BT has very good customer service and they seem to be high quality on the equipment as well as their skin care line. So yes, I would trust them enough to make another purchase if I needed to.

I am definitely sold on the "wet" microdermabrasion and I would definitely NOT purchase a crystal type machine. I have heard of a couple of other machines that you should check into before making your final selection. One is called the DermaSweep and the other is SilkPeel.

Microderm with crystals is too dehydrating and it is difficult to control the depth and eveness of abrasion. I believe that all of the machines are in the $4-6K range EXCEPT Edge Systems which is at least 5-7 X as much. When you couple that with the extremely poor customer service and the hugely expensive serums that you will be required to buy, I don't see it as worth it.

Hope this helps.

BT does not use disposable tips (HF does). The tips are "diamond" encrusted microderm tips that you would sanitize after using on your client. HF uses disposable tips, which is yet another cost to the machine.

I purchased my equipment from Skin for Life. I purchased their microcurrent face and body machine as well as their microderm (crystal) machine that I had Oxygen and LED integrated into. (one machine, multiple modalities) I love the equipment. Made in the US, great customer service, and as an EMT I was familiar with the parent company Lifeline Medical. The equipment is high quality and they run great deals.  Just another opinion. Good luck

Hi Susan,

I had not heard of skin for life and have just spent some time exploring their website. I have a couple of questions for you, if you don't mind :)

1. Oxygen: With their oxygen system, do you have to use their products only or can you customize your own blends of product in the sprayer?

2. Microcurrent:  How do you feel about the results you are getting for your clients with the microcurrent? Do you think getting the machine that does both face and body is worth it, or are you mainly doing faces? Are you getting enough clients in frequently enough to compensate for the purchase price? Also, how are you offering your microcurrent (as an add on service, stand alone, etc..)?

Ok, that was more than a couple of questions...huh?

Thanks so much!

OMG, I just watched all the videos about CACI movement on YouTube, and I am alarmed by the ignorance. I had high hopes for a famous esthetician called Dallas Portia, but not anymore. I actually feel pity.. Well, Caci was good to COPY the few of their right movement fro Bio-therapeutic, and nothing more. Their technology is outdated.
Dermapen is the newest crap out there, just like caci, it is just about PR, with no prove behind.
