Microdermabrasion

I am working at an established day spa that has never offered microdermabrasion. The owner is now considering the possibility and would like to start investigating. I am looking for feedback (the good, the bad, the indifferent) on the different systems that my colleagues use. Included in the feedback, I would be grateful for esthetic results, vendor instruction/support/service, ease of cleaning machine (I am fanatical about cleanliness), and liability issues.

All I can tell you is that microdermabration has the highest rate of satisfaction with clients. I read this somewhere, in a MedEsthethics journal and I agree with it . Do it !!   And just like others have said, the machine is just an instrument (like a violin), it's the technician (musician) that counts. If you are new at it, start simple and do a lot of complimentary treatments till you feel secure, but you will love the results.

I have the Skin for Life machine and absolutely love it. The training is great as is the customer service from the company. It is made in the US which was an absolute must for me. The machine is simple but versatile very adjustable for the skin you are working on. The parent company is Lifeline Medical, one I am familiar having been an EMT, and the quality of the equipment for the medical field. They have a few to choose from and the prices are very reasonable.  Give them a look if nothing else.

I was a huge fan of Microdermabrasion when I first started as an esthetician.  However, I didn't like the scattered crystal potentially left behind so I switched to diamond tip.  I was happier with the ease of use and cleaner face, but not as satisfied with results.  After more research and knowing which clients I tend to treat I have fallen in love the Dermasound Elite.  This machine offers exfoliation that is comfortable to my clients and easy to utilize for me as well as two other treatments options! (Sonophoresis and MicroAmp) The best part is I can upgrade ANY facial client regardless of their skin to a Dermasound facial :)

I am on the field since 1997. I never liked the TOXIC and hazard A.Oxide. I have the dermaTome but it does scratch the skin, I have the old Dermafile and it does scratch many clients skin, including my own skin. I have the Dermasond Elite but I find it weak, so I use it for up to 20 minutes. I also learned in this blog how to use the Demafile with the cleansing lotion. Those are my two main mechanical exfoliation process.

The Dermasoud Elite is a good machine but it is made in Taiwan - China, and IT MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC, and IT IS TOO OVERPRICED!!!!!

The outside casing of the Dermasound Elite is made overseas.  The inside components of the machine and spatula (the parts that matter) are manufactured in the United States, the New England states somewhere :)  I feel the technology is far above other ultrasound machines I have utilized, a cheaper battery powered handheld spatula is no comparison. 

To each esthetician their own! I personally love the choice I have made for myself and my clients.
