Hi Everyone!

I just had a quick question. I am not sure if this question was asked already but I get the Skin Deep magazine and this month on March/April 2013 magazine had a great idea on "Create an Aroma Bar" I LOVE the idea!! But the problem is how to find a herb store and what book to buy about the herbs. I do have "Rodale's Illustrated Encyclopedia of Herbs", but not sure on what to do.

I don't have any clientele so I am going to a Spring Fling to promote my business and I thought i could do the herb, to promote my business, you know? But I new to owning my own booth and getting clients, and it just being one person. You know how hard that can be.

Let me know your opinion!

Rose Mountain herbs has a variety of bulk herbs and other things you could use to make a beauty/aroma bar.
Not sure what you mean by booth? having a beauty or aroma bar is cool idea but if you just opened it could get pricey! Unless you have the money to work with other ways you can spend to promote business ( just my opinion).
Do you have all product and equipment? Depending on your retail or back bar Products- would give a sample product with business info in Baggie to all guests.
. If you are going for organic approach could make your own mini bath bags with herbs with instruction and herbs in bag to drop in bath with a tea light candle - just an idea- attach your business card with twine ribbon. Or just get Epsom salts and mixture of Dead Sea salts then mix mix a few scoops in a bag and add herbs.

Do you have printed material and a website? You could promote a "Grand Opening" - give out your business cards, service/price menu- and an introductory price for a treatment or 3- for all that come and to bring a friend. You can hand out 'swag bags' or raffle a few bags and services. Instead on concentrating on aroma bar- charge for that down road or do once you have clients.
You could also provide all the ingredients and charge x$ amount to make 1-3 things... Good luck!

Sorry but I am booth renting from a space so I am single Esthetician. Yes I do have all the products and equipment.

I like the organic approach with making my own bags. I also like your idea of doing the "grand opening" and the business cards and business service and price menu. I do like your ideas. But what are swag bags?

I could some of those fun things.

thanks!

Swag bag is a term used for gift bag- usually givin by sponsors or charity- make it simple and get brown lunch bags or ones with handles- if you have a stamp with your business name stamp them or make labels with business info. Put in the herb or bath ties along with whatever else ( business cards- coupon- etc,) let us know how it goes!!!

I have a huge selection of herbs and essential oils on hand in my salon so that I can prepare masks, customized lotions, body treatments, etc, for my clients. I buy all my herbs, oils, and aromatherapy products at the Bamboo Garden. They have over 200 bulk herbs and teas and about 175 different essential oils on hand, plus bulk dead sea salts, aromatherapy salts and oils already prepared and more. They have a website www.BambooGardenTea.com but they don't have many of their bulk products listed online. I just call the store at 951-782-9139 and order what I need. They send everything out right away and the store is open 7 days a week so I can order on Saturday or Sunday too if I need. It's fun to have my little chem lab to play in!! Good luck!

Thanks so much!! I will look into that!

I heard of them- I do the same- I rent and use the little office in front of "supply" room as my lab! I pretty much just make stuff to give clients free gifts and sometimes will add into scrubs or body wraps. I have made my own masks from clay powders and other ingred. but mostly used on self or friends. What kind of masks or lotions are your favorite? Would love to swap a recipe or 2!
