Galvanic

I've had amazing results with my clients using galvanic in my facials.  Without exception, my clients leave looking refreshed, hydrated, with tighter, younger-looking skin, and they're always thrilled.  Literally, a few years disappear.  I've been so amazed that I'd like to do this treatment to myself at home and have begun looking at galvanic machines for home use.  My question is, since the client holds the grounding rod and the esthetician holds the treatment wand/electrode, how can I do this to myself?  Does anyone know anything about other galvanic machines that can be used by one person?  I've seen some smaller, portable galvanic machines...are they used the same way?  Are they as effective as the regular, salon galvanic machines?  It's really hard to find use information in my searches.  I'm hoping someone has had experience with the at-home machines and can tell me how they're used and whether they're as good.  I can't imagine how I'd be able to use the different polarities without the second person.  Thanks for your help.

You should be able to hold one polarity and roll the other. You are completing the circuit.

Do you have any experience with this?  I'm not sure I feel comfortable with "you should be able to..."  I don't want to electrocute myself.  :)

Hi Pam! I was curious how you are using the galvanic to get such great results? Just through iontophoresis? I do a little bit of galvanic during my facials but I guess I haven't seen the results you are getting. So if you would be willing to share I would love to hear your secret! =)

Hi Tara,

I start with a great cleanse and exfoliation of course.  Results are particularly great if I've been able to convince them to cut out their synthetic skin care.  I use BlackBox Cosmetics and many of my clients have switched, too.  I feel like a really great facial massage is important, as well, as it relaxes the client and prepares the skin for a great treatment.

I begin the galvanic treatment on the negative pole.  Skin has been moistened with disencrustation solution (to help soften the pores) and a conductive gel.  After hot toweling that off, depending on the client's needs, I'll add some vitamin C, K, etc.. they almost always need Hyaluronic Acid, I usually add that.  Sometimes it'll be a little cocktail of a few things.  On top of that (for this particular facial), I layer an eslastin/collagen mask, then facial gauze and more conductive gel.  I switch to the positive pole and go over the face for several minutes.  If my client is particularly dry or stressed, I may then add paraffin and give a scalp massage for about 7 minutes.

I want someone to do this to me, taking the care that I do!  :)  This is a 90-minute facial.  The results really are dramatic.

OH MY GOSH!!! I so want to try this one!!!  I am just starting to use my galvanic because I want more in depth results!!! Come to me and I will do this on you!!! Where do you get your conductive gel?  What product line do you use?  I too do a really great massage (Because I DO work at a massage center)  What order do you do your treatment in?  7MINUTES!!!! Holy Cow!! Please message me! I would love to hear more!

I wish, Amy...do you do house calls to Massachusetts?  :D  I wish I had an esthetician to trade services with!  I'm not sure where the conductive gel comes from, the salon owner gets it for me, presumably from the salon supply catalog.  However, if you can't find it, I'm sure you can get it at a medical supply place, too... it's the same stuff they use in ultrasounds.  I use BlackBox for skin care ( http://shop.blackboxcosmetics.com/PC0388 ) and the ampoules and masques come from the salon supply catalog, as well.

Be proud of your facial massage, Amy.. a lot of people think of it as "fluff", but I think it's a very important element of the facial...to relax, improve circulation, get lymph moving, etc.

I had one once from a company called NuSkin. I've also seen one from the Clarisonic brush company. They are selling those now in addition to their brushes. I'm sure you can find it on their website, Clarisonic.com.

I used the one from NuSkin a few times. They wanted a person to use it very often with a special time-lock serum / lotion. I wasn't committed enough. They seem to be a MLM company. I never continued with them b/c it is a conflict of interest for me as a sole proprietor. But that is a hand held galvanic device.

I think they work with just the positive polarity. Not sure.
