Hi everyone!  I am wondering which you all think offers better results.  Can only choose 1 to offer at this time.   Do you prefer LED or Microcurrent for your clients?  Please explain your preference.

Thanks!

For more immediate results...microcurrent.

Clients like to see a difference immediately - which they won't with LED.

However - LED (a good LED!) I think offers more long term skin health and benefits

I have seen combo units though...they are LED lights with microcurrent prongs. Not as good as the microcurrents with the individual probes for targeted lifting - but I have heard do give results that many are happy with.

Ditto...said perfectly Cindy!  But, I wouldn't put a huge investment into a microcurrent machine unless you just really love to do microcurrent treatments. I feel that they are time consuming in order to get great results.....that's just my opinion though!

What do you qualify as a good LED?

One that works!

I have purchased an LED handheld on the recommendation of someone and saw zero results.

I ended up having to purchase one from another source.

I am shopping now for a unit that is a full panel.

Agree on the microcurrent taking so much time - 20 minutes depending on what type of movements and what type of unit.  Because of the time and cost,  I think that this is better as an add-on or included in a special event facial (for my type of biz anyway). But there is no denying that the technology works! It's just a hard sell for a series...as is LED.

What have you used the that you have seen results as I have used the Revitalight and it was a waste of $ but I know there is good stuff out there.

hmmm - I have used Revitalight when I was an employee at a spa and I saw results, and used it on myself because of that.

I would have classified this as a good one...just a little too pricey for my taste.

Sorry that it did not perform as you expected, what a huge disappointment that must have been!

Hi, I built my business using both of these modalities. They work great together. Microcurrent has such a variety of applications. You can just do one treatment for immediate lifting and toning or do a series for  cumulative results. You can also do mini treatments, such as a "brow lift". You can get very creative. In addition, microcurrent increases ATP 500%, helps with circulation and overall cellular health. LED also is very effective in reducing inflammation, collagen development, pore refinement, etc. It is recommended to use LED prior to a microcurrent treatment to increase the circulation thus helping with the of the current. And yes you can see immediate results with LED. I have seen redness reduced and skin tone evened out. For a great LED check out LightStim, very affordable and excellent company. I am available to chat with you further if you like. Training and "mixing up" modalities and protocols is a favorite for me.

Hi Vivian,

I am brand new in the business and when in school my clients liked the results of LED.  I am considering purchasing this so that I may offer.  Forget the panels that is way way way out of my price range.  I have looked into lightStim which I have seen on Amazon, Ebay, etc.  My question is what do I need?  If what I have read is correct the red and blue lights are separate units with separate functions and separate cost.  In short red for wrinkles, blue for acne, roseacea(sp?).  Is this correct?  If you were to advise me to buy one or the other which would it be?  Or am I wrong and is it a dual machine with both red and blue lights.  One last question would you stay away from ebay and amazon and stick with the company itself?  Sorry to bombard you with so much.  Any help, advice, suggestions you can make greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Angi

Hi Angi,

You have some great questions and yes, it can be confusing. You are right that the light waves have different functions. Red and infra-red have a longer wave length and aid in the reduction of inflammation and in the case of infra-red even help with pain and healing. The amber light helps to stimulate fibroblasts cells which create collagen. The blue light works on killing the p.acnes bacteria. Basically, the light waves work by stimulating "chromophores" which are light sensitive molecules at the cellular level. When the light stimulates these molecules a reaction occurs.

The best example is that of the p.acnes bacteria. As we know p.acnes can't live in the presence of oxygen. The chromophore in the p.acnes bacteria is called a prophryin. Once stimulated by the blue light a chemical reaction occurs and as a result gives off a singlet oxygen molecule. And this causes the bacteria to self destruct. Fun huh?

Now LightStim has combined multiple light waves to assist in different skin conditions. All the lights have both red and infra-red, which as we know are anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is the cause of pretty much everything, aging, acne, etc. So that is a good thing. The anti-aging light also has amber light waves which assist in the formation of fibroblasts which make collagen.

The acne light has blue, red and infra-red which targets the p.acnes bacteria and all the inflammation associated with acne.

The rosacea light has blue (not as much as acne) and red and infra-red which really helps with the inflammation associated with rosacea.

Which one to chose? I would ask you what kind of treatments do you offer? The anti-aging is a real work horse since it can provide so much in calming the skin after treatments, waxing, Microderm, etc.

I would love to talk to you further and answer anymore questions you have. I will tell you that I a a rep and educator for LightStim and previously with Bio-Therapeutic.

We have just lowered the price of our hand-held units, and yes they work just a well as the panel, only you need to hold them. For the treatment room, I would recommend two of them to expedite the treatment.

Feel free to contact me direct with any questions you have. Where are you located?

Warm regards,

Vivian

Hello Vivian, My original questions was,,  Can I by the bio-t microcurrent hand peices with my Compulift machine? I am new to Micro current and bought a Compulift off creigs list. I like the Bio-t ones much better.  Can I do that ?????

after reading some of this blog, Now I have more than one question.....

I have been reaserching LED's for a while and still feel like I know nothing.... From what I gatherd it all about the wave lengths.

With that being said, do the big boys like Bio-T, Silloett tone, etc, really have the best ones? I was tossing around getting the Pro-light units?  I am affrade to buy something less expensive only to have to buy another unit that works better?

Thank you,

MAriah

Hi Vivian, I too love love love results from microcurrent.  I resently got a combo microcurrent led unit but my question is led should be used on clean face, is that right? but if using with microcurrent can you still use a serum and or a conductive gel? I use biotherapeutic polarized water with my microcurrent and i am alittle confused about this...

Susan

Thank you all very much for the feedback!  It's greatly appreciated!
