Hi Michelle. good answer. It is so true. I myself have corrected many and it is some technicians terrible work that gives us all a bad name.
You are entitled to your opinion but I learned from a training video and training manual through JB Lash, not a "youtube" video. I got certified through the internet and practiced on many people before I started to offer it as a professional service. If you would like to see my work you can see it here www.styleseat.com/samanthamaline
Not every person who does extensions gets it, trained by a "brand trainer" or not. You can't lump all people who are excellent self-starters and learners in with people who do shitty extensions with ebay products and "youtube" videos. And I was never suggesting doing that. I was questioning the wisdom of taking a $1500 training course because of being listed as a certified technician on their website is the sign on bonus.
I understand your point of view, I see bad work all the time. But I live in a small town and I know many "technicians" who took did expensive training and are still rolling out clumped, misplaced, poorly applied lashes. They're not doing so good. So, in my experience, it has less to do with the brand name of the training you get and the dollar amount you spent on it than it does the precision and practice level of the technician performing the lashes.
JB Lash offers a training course online for 150 dollars that includes a dvd training video, a training manual, and online quizzes you have to pass. You can then send in 3 example pictures of your lashes to get certified.
It definitely is worth it. They stand behind their products and are a great company to work with. Their glue is the best. I have experienced other glue and it does not compare. I am an advanced xtreme stylist and I am on their directory as such and it has helped my business. Consumers are educating themselves more and I have had several people comment on having educated people because it is their eye area and they want to know the person did training and not just online. I have corrected several sets that were very bad and knowing your stuff is an asset. Don't sell yourself short. Educate yourself and it will pay off. It is a big chunk of change but I felt was worth it obviously since I am continuing to educate.
Let people know you care about their lashes and inform them. Stay away from clusters. They damage and you don't want to be responsible for that. I could go on and on but I'll stop. good luck with your decision. Educating is never a wrong way to go.
Glad to hear it. You won't regret it. Be patient. It is hard at first but then it clicks.
