Hi fellow estheticians,

wow, from the last time i was on this site a lot of changes have happened in my life. I have been an aestheticism for a little over five years and a massage therapist for about 3 years. Two years ago i graduated with a bachelor's in chemistry focusing on biochemistry. I have for the past year and half been working full time (7-4pm) as a cosmetic scientist in Dallas, Texas ( i formulate high end skin care products for dermatologist and surgeons).

I have not been practicing esthetics for about a year, i would like to get back into but i think i would like to get my own little place. I mainly want control over my schedule. But I'm not sure what to do. I'm also open to doing some educational classes, maybe equipping fellow estethicians to better understand skin care products.

I'm really good at teaching and explaining things and i need some ideas on how i can use the degree and training as an esthetician and a formulating chemist to increase my income while having control over my schedule.

Please help me smart people :)

I can't think of any way you could become a high - earner with control over your schedule. I would have suggested you might try working for a high end line as a trainer and saleswoman. They earn a good income and it would let you do hands on training in the field. However, their schedules are crazy and demanding. There's often a lot of traveling involved too. I you want to earn a decent amount and make your own schedule, booth renting is a great way to go. But frankly, if you want to be successful you have to bend over backwards for your clients which ends up meaning that they control your schedule.

great point samantha

What makes you happy? If you close your eyes and imagine yourself as successful and happy, what does that look like? What are you doing? Have you thought about writing a textbook? I am a lowly Esty and I make great money and have my own schedule! I also know it is my passion. Create your own life!

Nancy, I live in Dallas and just opened my own place in Plano. I have been an esthetician for 30 years and finally decided this was the best choice for me. I would love to chat with your more about it if want!

Vanessa
