What's first? Ficticious name or an LLC registration?

I'm so confused! I tried to register a ficticious name but I got this part of the form I don't understand. To file as an LLC (which is what I want to do) I need to have a FEI/EIN Number, which I don't have because I haven't registered it yet. So does that mean I need to do that first before registering a ficticious name?

I had a lawyer help me set everything up in PA. When you file for your LLC, your fictitious name will be filed as well. You may need to verify the name you wish to use is available in your state first. Check specifics for your state.

I'm getting legal advice this coming Tuesday, hopefully this will help but I wanted to take care of this before the meeting. ugh. I guess I will have to wait. I went to search for name availability and so far the name I want it's available.

I wonder, do you know if I make up a fictitious name - can I later file a LLC with it?

Just make sure it is available before you file the llc. My state will verify that it is available.
