I was thinking about starting my own business and I was hoping to get some advice on what hours and days are the busiest for you? Due to where I am thinking about having a room, I can not be open on Saturdays for a few months.

I live in a small town, my busiest days are Wednesday and thursday. Saturday are hit and miss

Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and evenings. Lately Monday has been great - I get all the people who are in the beauty field who have the day off and want something outside of their own business!

Thursdays are usually busy.  Weekends are hit and miss, as Nicole said.  Some Saturdays I'm booked solid 8-5pm, other Saturdays I might have a single brow wax appointment.  Mondays are a great day to be open, since a lot of people in the beauty and food service industries are off during the day.

Hi Jennifer, I run a very busy skincare studio. What I've learned is that oftentimes, compromise is an important factor in accommodating your customers. If you cannot work a Saturday, then an alternative weekend appointment makes sense. You can do a half-day or short shift on a Sunday for the meantime. During the weekdays I do a split shift usually, so that I can take clients who prefer early mornings to afternoons. I close for a few hours then I open back up and close out at about 7 or 8 PM. This is a good schedule if you want to get the customers who get off of work around 6-7 PM. Many other skincare businesses usually will stay open until about 6 PM or 7 PM but not later. This schedule will be at your advantage because you can then accommodate the customers who usually prefer appointments after work. Being open late right now will help to make up for revenue lost because you aren't open on a Saturday. Saturday appointments are very popular for most service based businesses, as are Thursday-Friday. Once you're able to open your Saturday back up, many of the customers should be able to shift to your new weekend schedule. If you forewarn them and let them know that your schedule is subject to change from that Sunday to a Saturday or from late appointments to the Saturday shift, then the transition will go smoothly and you won't lose some of your following.
