Starting a home spa!!
Hello everyone! I am a licensed esthetician and have been working under others for several years now. I am, however, trying to breakout on my own to start my own business. After looking into several different booth rental ideas, I would rather start a spa out of my own home. Does anyone have any idea what the Texas laws and regulations are for this? Every time I look into these I can't seem really find anything. HELP PLEASE!

I am in Indiana and they just require a separate entrance and a separate wall. That's it!

i know one lady, when she lived in Texas and worked from home. i guess, it was legal
i was trying to get info in GA, looks like here in GA it is not allowed according law, however i was told some girls are working from home.

So I found us the answer!!! I emailed TDLR yesterday and got a response (this is from the actual email).
10. Licensed premises shall not be utilized for living or sleeping purposes, or any other purpose that would
tend to make the premises unsanitary, unsafe, or endanger the health and safety of the public. An
establishment that is attached to a residence must have an entrance that is separate and distinct from the
residential entrance, Any door between a residence and a licensed facility must be closed during business
hours.
And of course you would need to get a salon license as well. Hope this helps answer your question.

I worked out of my home in Dallas for 6 years. I just kept it on the down low-cash only. But I stayed booked. I had little kids and needed to work from home in the summers. I now have a salon suite and LOVE IT!
