The salon/spa I work at wants to start offering spray tanning, but wading through all the info out there is confusing. Any advice on machines, products, really anything at all would be greatly appreciated!

I would love to know this too so I could add spray tanning as one of my services. The only thing is it can't take up much room and I don't want it to be messy. I don't have extra space for it since I'm renting a room and I share it with others. I just got a new client yesterday and she's been going to tanning booths, so if I can offer that as a service it might change her outlook on it. I already could see the sun damage on her skin and just telling her to avoid it.. won't do any good unless I offer a safer choice that would give a good tan!
Ladies, I have been researching body brozing. I think it looks like a good alternative to tanning and clients get to relax as they are being serviced. I just bought FakeBake tanning products. They are very highly recommended and are even on the view and family circle magazine. I went on YouTube to see how to apply it. First a full body exfoliation then spray product on elbows, knee and feet that helps cover the area evenly, them apply tanning product on with a mit. I will be trying it on myself next week. I'll let you know how it works. The company also has spray tanning supplies. www.FakeBake.com
Can't wait to hear what you think!
I have a spray tanning business and when I first started I was completely overwhelmed with everything that is out there.  All you need is a tent, a machine and a good solution.  Every solution is different and the best way to find out what you like is to order samples from companies, and they sell them for a fairly reasonable price.  I often buy from Kevin at www.thesunlessstore.com or www.thetanningstore.com.  My two favorite solutions are Liquid Sun by Van-I-T and Aviva's Gimme Brown.  Two good machines for volume are the Maxi Mist or the Mini Mist, either one does the job well.  Don't let anyone talk you into buying a huge package for thousands of dollars and unless you have a huge clientele to start, don't buy a ton of solution.  It is very tempermental and doesn't do well when sitting for a long time.  You need a tent, a machine, an extractor fan (if you are doing a large volume of tans) and solution (all the basics)
This is very helpful.  Thank you so much!

I have look at SJOLIE'S website & read about their  machines.  You don't like their solution?  They seem to be fairly priced at $315 for the mini & $480 for the maxi mist.....

Thank you very, very much for this valuable information!  Much appreciated!

I have been spray tanning for over 4 years now, and the best advice I can give to you is RESEARCH. We use Austrailian Gold at my spa. The solution is over 60% organic, does not have a horrible stench, has a built in bronzer that makes it easier for the technician who is spraying to see what they are doing, stays a little tackey for about 2 minutes and then dries, takes just 6-8 hours to fully develop, and lasts close to a week. Also, the most importatnt thing to do is to make sure that your client is educated on what to do to their skin BEFORE and AFTER in order to maintain their tan. Exfoliating beforehand and moisturizing afterwards are two of the most important things!
That is so funny that you say "Snap On".  My husband is a general contractor & he was looking at these machines with me & had the same idea as your husband.  "It's an air compressor...why can't you just purchase that?"  I thought he was crazy, but you are actually using a Snap On air compressor as your sprayer?  What are you using for your air brush gun?

Hi Ladies...I am setting up for spray tanning and now I am trying to decide price.  First thinking $30 full body, but my daughter said  "too cheap" . So now I am going with $40...I am in small town in NY and cant go to high.  Any thought let me know.  Thx

I think $35 full body...just my 2 cents :)

Hey there my friend....just what I was thinking too.  Thanks Sue and see you def next week!
