Last year I sent clients on their birthdays cards with $5 off wax and $10 off facial services. I didn't get a great response on that and wanted to change it up to hopefully get a better response.
Are others sending things out in the mail like this?
I always thought $5 wasn't a big incentive. However, when I sent out Birthday Cards with $5 off I got a great response! I was so shocked that people would come in for so little. Later I switched to email birthday wishes and the response wasn't quite as predictable, but people did come in.
The card I made at Vistaprint with a birthday cake on the front...very festive.
I am sorry that you did not get a good response - it DID work for me
We send them a $10 GIFT CARD, not discount, they can use on products or services, valid for the month of their birthday.
Sure ,the plastic jobbers cost more than a postcard, but people treat it completely differently because it feels like any other gift card they get. It ends up costing about $3.50 for the card, card holder, envelope and postage, but it looks just like a gift someone bought for them, complete with the personalized note.
We found the average ticket when one is redeemed is well over $100. No one comes in a just picks out a lip balm and pays for it with their birthday gift card.
Email is the new junk mail, every time we send out a promotion we get about a dozen people opting out of the mailing list -- even though they asked to be on it in the first place.
