Hello all. I am looking to add a firming facial to my menu and am going to be purchasing the Passionfruit Enzyme. Would it be too stimulating to do elctroporation and the dermafile during the same facial with this enzyme? What all do you add to your firming facials? Thanks!

Hi Tara:  I think it depends on each person.  Some of my clients get very red and, therefore, I do not use modalities or dermafile for that reason.  However, some clients only get mildly red and I will use the items you mentioned.  When I'm putting a client through this series, as we progress, I feel like I need to get more aggressive with the protocol.  Here's an advanced protocol, if you feel you need it:

Professional Treatment:

  1. Cleanse once with Green Tea Cleanser.

  2. Cleanse a second time with Glycolic Cleanser.

  3. Apply generous amount of 30% Glycolic Peel to the face and neck with a fan brush or gauze.  Leave on 5-7 minutes.

  4. Remove and neutralize 30% Glycolic Peel with Neutralization Solution (1 cup water and 1 tsp baking soda mixed in a bowl).

  5. Apply Passionfruit Enzyme to the face and neck (with or without steam); it is normal for the skin to appear red and warm for several hours.  Steam will intensify these treatments.

  6. Remove with cool aesthetic wipes.

  7. Proceed with the rest of your facial and protect with Sheer Protection SPF 30.

Performing these treatments 1 week apart for 6 weeks will continuously encourage fibroblast production and exfoliation.  Subtle firming is evident within 1-2 weeks as loose skin is tightened and softer.  The best results will be seen in 3 months.

Thanks so much Lisa!

Lisa, would you do this protocol for 6 weeks, or build up to it? If building up to it, at what point in series do you commonly suggest...about 3rd treatment??  Maybe start without steam? I have a client that has had numerous facials & now wants to really focus on firming, so I think I can just start this on her as is, but in general for a new or newer client...  Thanks!

Amy - I start the 6 week series with only the Passionfruit and see how their skin responds.  I only use this protocol if it's needed.  Yes, the 3rd treatment is about the right timing (again, each client is different).

Yes, start without steam with treatments 2 or 3 to intensify the treatment.  Most people get very red and warm with this enzyme, so start slowly and work up to additional steps (steam, glycolic, dermafiles, etc.) as you deem necessary through the series.  Just don't feel that you need to get too aggressive too fast.  It's always easier to add another treatment on the end of the series, rather than scare someone away.  Lisa
