Hi Esthis,
I'm finally getting to go to an IECSC in Vegas this June!! I'm really looking forward to it. Is anyone else attending?
Does anyone have any tips on what to see and what to avoid?
Thank you

Congrats on going. the conference is fun and packed with lots of things to see and do. I check out everything but pay LOTS of attention to what my esthetic focus is. take as many classes as you can and visit and talk to as many people as you can. Most of all have fun... you are in VEGAS.
Thank you Tiffany! I appreciated your tips, especially on focusing. I wasn't planning on taking classes though, but maybe I should look into it.
Did you know ASCP members get a discount on admission?
Thanks LKSNOWQUEEN! I didn't know about the discount (for being a member here?)
I haven't bought my ticket yet. How much is the discount and how do I get it?

Go to the Hair side also. Its crazy fun. haha ;))
Here are a few tips...
The big brands will always be upfront and and take the largest square footage. They normally will also have great education but are really hard on sales so be ready for the pressure. Those booths cost 100 - 150K when the show is all done so just be mindful when you walk up. You might not get a chance to leave. lol
As for the the smaller 10x10 booths. The are normally reserved for the smaller lines and 80% I would say are private label and not built from the ground up ingredient by ingredient with a core foundation to them. With that said, make sure you go to the private label booths and get an education on those companies as it will help you learn the industry and the ins and outs. That will help you weed through the marketing machine that is the skin care industry at the show and away from the show.
With the above education, you will see lines that promise instant results and those are the lines you really want to look at as it relates to the ingredient list. Get an education on those and how large the ingredient lists are since after you study those you will know the difference between a line that is real and one that is private label or less then what you would want in your spa.
Always remember: Instant results = skin inflammation = aging the skin faster!
Look for lines that are printed and not labeled unless they are organic or natural since the label look is there packaging of choice. The non organic or natural lines that are labeled are almost certainly private label and not worth a second of your time but obviously you make that decision when you see them.
Take any courses you can on ADVANCED chemical peels. The AHA and BHA training is not what you want to take. Its the TCA and Jessner if you can. They are the two that peeling agents that require the highest level of understanding and once you understand how they work with the skin then AHA and BHA are very easy and you will remove the fear with regards to post peel complications by understanding the higher level peels.
Look for lines that contain a lot of CLEANSERS and maybe avoid those since if you think about it, how many cleansers do you need? Right? What that will tell you is that maybe the lines foundation is competing with other lines and building out a huge product line and not sticking to what the core of the line is. This is one indicator of what a line is. I hope this makes sense... Also those lines are the most capital intensive as they require you to buy the most and and they also probably keep coming out with new products to stay with the competition.
Probably my last point: Allow lines or sales persons or owners to talk negative about other lines. It is unprofessional and probably most wont do it unless you talk first but take this negative not as unprofessional but them voicing their opinion on what matters most to them and how they compare to others. I hope this makes sense. Think about it... How else can they compare and talk... right?
Hope this helps! ;)
