Mock wax

Hi there,

I'm about to take my licensing exam. I've been mentoring with another Esthetician rather than going to school. I know how to wax but I don't understand the mock wax part of the exam. Can anyone outline what is required for the MOCK wax -- what products you should use etc?

We used vaseline like wax and did it just as you would an eyebrow wax. It was weird- practice first!

Do you have a mannequin head or do you use a model?

 

I don't know what state you're in, but our state board is SO persnickity, there were so many details our instructor prepared us for. The biggest thing they are watching for is sanitation, so pay close attention to that.

We used play dough for hard and honey for soft. It feels super cheesy!

For mock "soft wax' we've had our students use honey and/or cholesterol hair pommade (from sallys or the like)
