What is the pay rate for the Industry?

I am working at a salon and they have a treatment room I am the first esthetician they've had . I get 50% of the services booked. This is my first job out of school , Wondering a few things If the salon offers a discount on the services, would it come out of there 1/2 or do I split it ? Also having some issues as the co-owner whom answers the phone runs the front end of the salon bookings, checking all the woman out ect.. Never talks about the treatment room or that there is an Esthetician there. He is'nt marketing me at all or the services and has told me on numerous occasions that I am not a partner in the business (what) I do know this. But I would like to be part of the team and need some business. Also does anyone else have the problem with alot of cancellations for facials? thanks for your time and any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Not enough information to be of much help.

Are you required to be there certain hours?

Who supplies your products, linens, supplies?

Are you an employee?

Are you paid hourly when you do not have someone on your schedule?

Are there brochures and business cards at the front desk?

Just from what you have said, I'd run screaming AWAY from that place.

hahaha I have really been thinking the same thing Nondy , very frustrated. I do not get an hourly rate, there is a menu at the front desk ,they supplie every thing and I do have cards which I hand out and I have no problem talking to women when they are in the front by all the products. But unfortunately they are always wisked away to get there hair done as the girls have schedules to keep . So I am an employee but only get the commision I'm stuck between a rock and a hard stone I feel. They get 50% also But do not want to do anything for it. I have done a few facials and a body polish on the girls there so they know what I do and can talk to there clients But once again NO-One is talking . I dont know . I'm gettting a resume put togeather as we speak .
