what to wear?

Another silly topic for a rainy day! LOL

I have found that I don't really like to wear my nicer clothes in my treatment room... but I want to look nice.... and I am MOST comfortable and "myself" in a fun top, fun shoes, and jeans.

Is this a total "faux pas"?!?!

(I do wear a long black apron over whatever I'm wearing when I'm doing a treatment)

I've toyed with getting a "uniform", too, but I know I'd quickly tire of that.

Always professional, when you project yourself in this way, you get more respect from your valued clients. Clean, neat, no fragrances other than the essentials oils that you use.
No gum, etc. This is a noble profession, and everyone should view it that way. TCE

Coutre Spa Wear... I own a few of these Esthetic Jackets, you can look cute when you greet your client :) but during the treatment, toss on a fashionable Esthetic Jacket, then after treatment, look cute again :)

I've been struggling with this lately as well! I look a bit younger than I actually am..and sometimes I dress young but I want to be taken seriously so I bought some long sleeve cotton crew neck tops in basic colors. I also just ordered this vest because I think it looks professional and it's easy to move my arms around in and I can wear turtlenecks and long sleeves without looking silly or a scrub type of outfit because I noticed most of the Esthetician uniforms are only 3/4 sleeves. Hi! Well, the town I live in is super casual... I started out just wearing something sorta nice cotton top & jeans. Then, I started wearing dresses or getting a bit more fancy when I got a new client. I found that I had more return clients. 

So, now I have a few feminine blazers that I wear over whatever shirt & I almost always wear jeans. I have had a lot of compliments and positive feedback. :)

I wear it during my consult (foot soak & tea), then I just take it off when I start my service. If I am waxing, I will put on a smock or an apron.

I like this Celina! I also really like the foot soak and tea idea!! how fun!! I wish I had a bigger room where I could pull that off.... :-/

I recently bought an Image t-shirt at a training and am wearing that a good bit. It's black, fun, sparkly (in rhinestones it says IMAGE SKIN CARE on the front and AGE LESS on the back), black jeans, and heels. I have a pair of rhinestone-studded hoops- somewhat large- and voila! I feel I look professional, but approachable, with a blend of hip. :-)  I will probably mix it up from time to time- but it's nice to have something I like to throw on when I'm not in the mood to pick something out.

I still lean toward nice looking jeans with a classy top and shoes... I think the culture can take it, and I think it puts people at ease.  My demeanor is confident and friendly, my skin looks awesome thanks to Image, and I think the clients feel very comfortable with me.

I recently had a new client go to 2 high-end spas locally for consultations as well as me, and end up as MY client b/c I gave her the time she needed and made her feel important. THAT is what means the most to me! I would never dress like a slob- because I am not a slob- but I am going to be "me" in the end b/c people are looking for authenticity.

I have the same problem. I started by wearing black scrubs, which people like because you look professional. But, I woke up one morning and said I cannot put those on one more day. So I started wearing my nice jeans and a dressy top. With that being said, I feel under dressed. I am toying with a uniform for myself as well. Maybe a black top and pants. If you go into a spa, they usually wear a uniform, right? Maybe khaki's and a polo top? Not sure...

Everyone has such great ideas. I used to wear black/white all the time. Now I wear cute tailored scrubs in all colors. I like to match the colors with the seasons. It keeps the room fresh, and I feel colors are a mood enhancer. Also I wear my white lab coat during facials to keep me looking professional. No necklace, no rings, no perfumes, just small diamond earrings.

What about a lab coat? I do not wear one but I wonder if people would take me more seriously in a lab coat?

I personally think that unless you are working in a Dr. office a white lab coat looks pretentious... but that's ME- and I'm not criticizing anyone who like to wear them, b/c I know a lot of people do. It's totally personal preference.

I like to wear a long knee-length black apron over my clothes. It protects everything, I stay cool (b/c I always get hot during services!!) and you can still see my outfit. They really can't even see you. I always slip my apron on right before the service, after the client is comfy in the bed. They don't care what I'm wearing! they just want to feel good and look better! LOL

At school we had to wear smocks or lab coats.  Personally, I think that when I pulled my hair back and put on my lab coat, I felt more professional.  It sort of changed the way I approached the service.  (Kind of like when I put on a cocktail dress & heels, I feel sexy.  Ha!) 

Now that I am in a home studio, a lab coat seems silly - for ME. 

Remember, even those saleswomen at the Clinique counter wear lab coats and it works for them.

I wear scrubs but not the "baggy hosp style"  that comes to mind ~ 

 My favorite scrub brand is Koi ~ I love them! They fit really well and are flattering
