Tinting
Hello~
I am new into the business and have had a few calls from ladies wanting me to tint their brows and lashes. I have not done this but would like more info on this service so I can offer it. My question is, where did you get your training and what line do you use?

Another question, I was reading a blog and they said that they let their clients pick out the tint they want, do you do that to those who already perform the task?

I will make the recommendation for the tint color, generally because I think they would choose too light. (I promise to never make them look like Groucho Marx!)

I promised that too... until today!! LOL!! my poor client's brows really TOOK the tint, and her brows were darker than she had imagined... so I didn't charge her for the service. She felt better after I scrubbed some of the tint away, but we are definitely not going as dark next time (I added a bit more brown to the middle brown b/c she wanted them a tad darker). it was a bit stressful!! :-P
What is everyone using to apply the tint to the lower lashes?? I was using an angled brush but lately have been having some "issues" with that...

They applied the lower with the eyes open- and it looks like she brushed right onto the skin!! I guess you just apply vaseline up there.....

I tint the upper and lower lashes at the same time while the client has their eyes closed. Works good.

how?? I can't see the lower lashes with the upper lid closed.... can you describe this in more detail??

Gina - I never tint lashes with the eyes open. I place the cotton pad carefully and pretty much count on the tint catching the lower lashes with the top. That usually is just fine. I would be afraid of getting it right into their eye with them open...
Like everything, it is a learning process. For brows, I have told people that they might be a little darker than they would like for the first few days, to get the color they want for longer.

I was just talking to a sales rep and she was surprise that I was thinking of offering it, said its dangerous because the dye is so close to the eyes. She said to check and make sure my insurance covers it, has anyone checked to see if ascp covers it?

If you use Associated Skin Care as your insurance Lizabeth, they do cover the tinting as long as the product is vegetable based, which Intensive brand is.

Yep - and we have a client consent form for brow and lash tinting on the ASCP website too (in the member login area). It's a really good idea to get a signed release from the client for this type of service. It will also help make the client aware that the color might not end up exactly what they wanted!

I have been offering brow and lash tinting for several years. The line I really like is Intensives. You can purchase it through UniversalCompanies.com. Great add-on, I charge $15 for brow tint and $10 for eyelash tint. Choose the cream developer for no dripping !

I prefer the line Intensive. Its very easy to use and is considered a very safe line meaning even if a little does get into their eye cold water will calm it down instantly because its pretty much made from vegetable and food coloring. I learned how to do it in Esthetics school but you probably could learn how to do it on youtube as there is a lesson for everything on there. If not I can send you how I do it and then maybe we can skype or something so you can see me do it on an actual client.
