I would think that if you were looking for product penetration then you would want to use galvanic on  +.

 

Using HF creates that layer of ozone for antibacterial effects - however I use it on clean skin over damp gauze. It seems to me that a layer of product would interfere in the direct results on the skin.

Maybe I am missing something...but I have never used HF over a masque.

I agree with Cindy - use galvanic on the positive mode to penetrate the Seaweed Mask. 

 

Here's my thoughts on high frequency:  "Because high-frequency current is capable of changing polarity 1,000 times per second, it basically has no polarity and in effect does not product chemical changes.  This makes it physically impossible for product penetration.  Product penetration is achieved with the galvanic method."

 

Thoughts?

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear.  I usually use my BT Micro for product penetration after the high frequency.  Another esthetician recommended a gel for use with the high frequency, and the ingredients were very similar to the Seaweed Mask, so I thought I'd try it.  

However, my instincts are also that the gel might be too much of a barrier, and that high frequency is more effective with damp gauze.

Why damp gauze Cindy? I have always used hf with a plain 4x4 on dry skin. Am I missing something??

I use high frequency as a means of leaving a germicidal effect on the skin. I suggest gauze or light lotion to glide over the skins surface. A mask is not something I would recommend in the procedure.

I would recommend using the blemish control pad on the areas of interest, cover the face with gauze, then use high frequency.

The idea is not penetration, but oxygenation to kill bacteria.

I too use high frequency on dry skin over dry gauze. Why dampened gauze ladies? I use my ultrasonic to penetrate product.

There is no conductivity if you use dry gauze.

Wow, it's been years since I used the HF and we were taught in school to use dry cheese cloth. Yikes!!

Hey Jackie - we were taught dry gauze/cheesecloth in school too,

The vendor that I bought my HF/Galvanic unit from told me to use damp...so that's what I did.

@cindy: I know this is an older thread, but was hoping I could get some feedback from you :) I follow a lot of your responses, I'm learning so much from you!

I'm interested in purchasing a handheld high frequ to incorporate into my Deep Cleansing facial as well as an add-on service to bikini waxes. (I haven't used high frequ since esthy school, nearly 9 years ago.)

For the facial protocol, I'm thinking: double cleanse, retinol scrub, enzymes, remove w ultrasonic, extract, dry skin and apply damp gauze and trouble shoot acne with hf, apply serums, masque, lip/eye moisturizers then spf.

For post-waxing I'm thinking, prep skin, wax, apply damp gauze and make a couple passes with hf then apply soothing post products.

Possible thoughts?
