Hi Everyone,

What are your thoughts on spray tanning or a tanning treatment where you apply the product with a mitt?

My boss is asking me to add a sunless tanning service and I don't know which way to turn with this.  Should I spray tan? or should I offer more of the 'fake bake' type treatment? Once I decide which way to go, I will then need to know what product is best and also I will need some sort of training.  I am flustered with this one!  Can ya'll help me out?

Thanks a bunch!

Rachel

I am the specialist  for this at my spa. I use Mineral Airbrush tanning.  It is amazing and very simple to learn, I have tips to prolong a spray tan and the perfect product, and website, so you can get started at great prices. Give me an email if interested and I can send you pictures and info. Hope this helps :)
I can even send you a demonstration tape and protocols that teaches you how to do all this. It never looks orange and I have so many repeat clients.

Sarah,

I would be interested on the website. I do spray tanning and love it. But I am always open to other products. You may email me at angelaakline@aol.com

I'm interested...you can contact me at lori@bellezamakeup.com

Thanks Sarah! ;)

I'm interested you can email me at facesbyfr@gmail.com thank you

I have been offering spray tanning for a couple of months. I purchased the Maxi-mist machine from Tampa Bay Tan in FL.  (The package came with a tent and sample sprays.  I have used a few different solutions.  Right now I am liking Jamaica Me Tan and the Awaken line from Artesian Tan.  (I found Artesian tan to be very helpful - they also offered a wholesale price as I am licensed.  I also learned to use my gun by using the Artesian Tan practice spray and my husband and I took turns spraying each other & showering it off!)

I watched many Youtube videos to get the hang of how to do the spraying.

I would love to hear what equipment and product Sarah is using.  Please share!

Good luck, Rachel.

WE use South Seas Sunless Tanning...the one used on Dancing With The Stars.  LOVE it!  Dries instantly (no waiting around or standing in front os a fan, and it smells really nice.  No funky smell.  Folks like that they can get dressed right away after tanning with South Seas..

Nondy - I have heard good things before about South Seas.  I am going to order some samples today.  I have been amazed by the staying power of Jamaica Me Tan, but it is wet for quite a while after spraying.  (IME).

Thanks for the recommendation!

Julia

Hi Nondy,  Just saw your post about South Seas...which solution do you use. I think I will give them a try.

Thanks for the responses!

Nondy, Do you use South Seas machine, too?

Hello Rachel,

I suppose it depends on the comfort level of both your clients as well as you !  No training necessary (legally) although may want to practice the service until you have mastered it.  'Fake Bake' now comes in a spray :)

Good luck

Just to comment on the products applied with a mitt...

I have worked for two places that offered this service. In my experience it is the one service with the highest percentage of client dissatisfaction and complaints. ( I never performed this service personally)

Stick with the ladies here and go for airbrush services - higher investment and start-up, but higher client retention.
