I would like to know what you all are using for your facials.  I use cotton and towels and I had a facial today and she only used what felt like very soft tissues so i am assuming they were esthetic wipes....any suggestions?

Thanks for the idea. I use gauze and 4x4's to remove peels, enzymes and masks. I used the microfiber towels as an ice towel after peel removal to calm skin down and they really enjoyed having ice therapy and heated wraps in during the facial. I use warm towels after massage and after removing the mask. Don't forget the back at the end of the facial w peppermint oil. They love it and it helps wake them up when you sit them up.

I use 4x4's for rinsing and cleaning up enzymes and masks and use warm towel after the massage for panetration of whatever serum I used and after my mask, my clients love the feel of warm towel.....it just feel clean.

I use the towels, and esthetics wipes to remove the enzymes, and sponges for the fellas, because they seem to like the texture of the sponges more than the towels. And, like Sheila, i hand over the well rinsed sponges to the clients for them to use if they wish.

While in school we were first taught to use sponges, then the state board changed it to cotton, or if you use sponges send them home with a client. I personally use cotton. Which I can see why they made the change. If you think about it the way I was taught was the proper way to sanitize a sponge is by boiling it. If you think about it who really boils them, or have time to put all sponges on the stove or microwave. I personally find cotton a easier. Not saying someone that uses sponges isn't sanitary, I personally always loved cotton.

I use sponges and hot cotton towels. Initially, i used just towels but found them to be too stimulating and irritating for sensitive skins. then I went to natural sponges, which were great. (i still use hot towels to remove mask or scrub. i feel it gets the product off better, with less stimulation). at a show I found these neato little microfiber mitts and bought a couple dozen pairs. I used those til they became discolored and worn out, then couldn't find them again and went back to sponges. I recently ordered some PCA sponges, a synthetic material sponge which is more dense, but I think they do not remove product as well. I think the natural sponge porousness aids in product removal, so will go back to those when I have used up the ones I currently have. i think you need to be cognizant of your clietns desires. I keep a couple dozen microfiber washcloths on hand for those clients who prefer them.

try looking at Hollywood Face, tey carry the re-usable microfiber mits....

I never give clients the sponges I use on them. Unless the client is going to go home a sanitize them on a regular basis, the used sponges belong in the trash, otherwise they are just a bacteria factory!

In school we used 4x4's for women and sponges for men. Towels for the massage oil and masque.

In my spa I am keeping with the 4x4's but use Microfiber towels that are stain resistant.

As for the Clarisonic we'd wash the brush with soap and water then spray with cavicide.

Hi Renee,

Where do you get your microfiber towels?

I bought them from Newlifesystems.com. I use the grey as they match my decor.

Also massagewarehouse.com has them. Sign up for their newsletter, they run specials with free or very low flat rate shipping and 10-15% off.

I love my towels, only downside is they come with tags but I cut them off!

Good morning!

I do use esthetics wipes and sponges, but hand towels for facials -  What would be the best or decent enough for long life and quality? 100% cotton?  Cloth diapers (very soft)

I steer away from "economics" since they seem to be very rough and thin. I also wouldn't want too thick either.

Whats your preference?    Thanks, Pamela :)

I use towels (I have a laundry service) for removing cleanser, masks, and enzymes.

I also use cotton rounds for eye covers, 2x2 non-woven for peel application & removal, and these http://www.qosmedix.com/pages/product/14/96582/Waffle-Cleansing-Pad... for applying toner.
