Hi everyone!  Something I've wanted input on for a while.  How is everyone doing extractions?  I have a tool at home, but don't like using it on other people as I don't feel I was properly trained to use it.  I have learned a finger extraction technique from IDI that works really well and I am comfortable using.  Let me know how you do them and why.  Thanks!

Both, for me. I begin with the finger extractions, and only if need be, use the tools. And as always, Clean, gloved hands, padded with cotton for client comfort!

I love to use the ultrasonic spatula for extractions. Sometimes it's all I need to use. But sometimes, if they are super impacted, I need to loosen things up with the spatula and then it just pours out with manual extractions! There's a video on my website on how to do it!

oohh!! Your spatuala is on my list! working everything I want into my budget this year!

Can I have your web site address ? I would like to learn how to use this technics. I recently had a skin specialist give me a facial and she bruised my nose with he extraction tool. I would never want ro do this to a client.

Hi Melissa...I'm thinking you were asking for my web address. If not...sorry!

My training video is on this page:

Thank you .. Yes I was asking for the address... Again thank you

What is the website addy?

Will you be at the Northern California Face and Body Conference in August?  And if so what is the name of the company for the Exhibitor list?

Thanks,

Tracy

Oops-I meant to ask you Shelley regarding the Ultrasonic Spatula:  Will you be at the Northern California Face and Body Conference in August?  And if so what is the name of the company for the Exhibitor list? Thanks, Tracy"

Mark Lees demonstrated extractions using q-tips at the last trade show I went to.

He was masterful!

I learned the extraction techniques from IDI also. I have to admit that I am not a wizard at extractions so I often will use a comedone extractor. Not my first choice since they are uncomfotable for client and if you use too much pressure can easily damage skin. But I always start with my hands first and see how it goes.

For someone like me I think that learning good technique with the skin spatula would be the best route.

I used quips and that does work well and they're clean.

Cindy,

I learned the q-tip technique also from Mark Lees over 16 years ago.  It's a gentle way to extract without leaving marks on the skin.  It's a rare occasion if I have to use an extraction tool.
