Hi ladies, I just bought a HF machine (hand held). Would any of you be willing to give me a small break down of what my acne facial protocol would like. I am not sure where to incorporate it. Also, do you charge more for the treatment with HF? If so, how much?

Thank you!!

and you use that with HF, not galvanic?  sounds similar to what I learned with galvanic

Yes you can do that with the galvanic too...and HF...and Ultrasonic...and LED...LOL.  Way too many options to accomplish the same thing much like other things in our field!!  I just like the HF better than Galvanic bc you don't have to worry about grounding the client and you won't zap them if you come off of your hand.

Sheila, I tried the HF on my son and he swears I zapped him. Hmm... what might I have done wrong?

You need to hold your finger to the attachment until it's placed on the face; otherwise, the person might get zapped.

LOL, if you are trying to penetrate, either have it on and slide off your hand onto the face or put on face and start moving around then turn it on...and it can be on lower setting for this.  If you just hover over an area it will zap.

Ok I tried that, it seems to work better when you "ground" it. But, one thing I did was put a little cleanser on the face and moved it around. I have not tried it yet with no liquid, in the "zap" mode. Does it hurt?

Also, it sounds like an electric chair, does this startle the clients? My kids laughed hysterically annd said you are not touching me with that thing!! LOL

no, it doesn't hurt at all.  well, it shouldn't...unless you zap them :)

If you have it really high I could see where the zap would probably sting a bit...if you hold it over one spot for a longer time it can kinda be...irritating...not really hurt, kinda hard to explain unless you try on yourself.  Start with it lower but you want to hear that bbzzzd sound if you are sparking the acne to kill the bacteria.  if you are penetrating, just put it on low just so you can see the color in the glass part.

The high frequency current is much more stimulating and produces 'ozone' when applied over dry gauze.

HF would not be effective IMO if you are doing it over a masque or serum.

"Sparking" is kind of old-school too...not necessarily best practice.  Most of us do HF over gauze as Claire mentions.

It is that produced ozone that kills the bacteria - not the sparking.

huh well I guess they taught us incorrectly in school!  Thanks for the info.
