I just wanted to share really quick that I recently called a few women's gyms in my local area to ask if there were any type of vendor opportunities and luckily I stumbled across one.  I only had a few days to prepare but I figured, I can't let this opportunity pass.  The manager said that she usually requires a membership to the gym but would let me try out the  vendor spot before making any decisions.  Well, I decided that I needed something to get these ladies attention so I set up and offered cucumber water in a beautiful display, an energizing facial spritz that I would spray before they worked out, a sugar scrub that I handed out on cotton swab and I also brought some moisturizer along for post workout and handed out other samples.  What a HUGE success, I booked 5 women for this past week.  Thank God because I was not going to make rent if not.  I offered them all a deal of $15 off any reg price spa treatment with a free lip scrub, scalp massage and facial waxing (brow, lip or chin).  Each lady came in this past week and all loved their treatment and all rebooked for 4 weeks!  YAY!

I know that skin care is slow during the summer and some of you were looking for ideas, I highly suggest this.  Good luck and keep me posted if it boosts your business.

Thanks For sharing Sheila. I love your idea.

You are welcome!!

Awesome idea and congrats on the success!!!

I also love you idea that you recently wrote about Shelley!  I am definitely going to implement that one, just getting the word out is half the battle.  That would also be a great idea to have at an event where the ladies could pick out of a bowl for a discounted service or maybe free add on.

Sheila, that's a great idea!!! I will do that during August. I have a friend who runs a gym and I have been trying to figure out a way to work with him. It's a small gym and he doesn't have a locker room but he is really busy! Did you make the products or did you purchase them from one of your vendors? I'm interested in learning more!

I didn't sell any retail there just spa services.  The energizing spritz is from Glo but I added a little energizing essential oil to it to make it smell better :).  The ladies absolutely LOVED it.  The sugar lip scrub is from Salon Centric (called sugar lips).  it's $20 for this little thing of product but it really goes a long way.  They after they did that I had either the hemp moisturizing balm, cherry or mint glo lip balm to finish after.  PCA has a lip peptide therapy that I will probably get and use too.  Then I brought 2 different moisturizers, one for oily one for dry skin (both glo).  I use primarily glo but am slowly incorporating Skin Scripts.

To be more cost effective I do my own lip scrubs. I take organic coconut oil( you can find it in Walmart) and mix sugar and a essence oil. Any kind would work, you can even make a theme of it. You even eventually make it in batches to sell and since the cost to make it is def under the $8 the profit would be tremendous for you.

Oh and it was a member appreciation for the gym...so something you could suggest to your friend is doing this where you can get a couple of vendors (this gym runs them twice a month).  It could be a really successful for them, even at once a month.

This is great! I was thinking of making an energizing spritz and then I could retail it at my studio. I am using skin scripts but I used to use Glo at my previous place of employment. We have a salon centric here so I will have to check and see if they have it in stock. I am excited! This will be a success.

Some other things I'm doing to try to get people in the door is a weekend kick off. I've been open for a couple of months but I am just now able to celebrate it. I am hosting a happy hour at a local restaurant near my studio where I am buying some appetizers and the first 4 people will get a margarita on me. Then on Saturday afternoon I am hosting a tea party at a local cupcake and tea salon and then on sunday I am hosting an actual celebration at my location. I am learning that hosting events are a great way to get more people in the door.

Yes that is awesome!

Also, if you look into Shelley's marketing idea you could incorporate that as well.  have a bowl filled with things like 20% off retail, or free lip treatment or a free service all together and have the women that want to book pull something out of the bowl.  I really can't wait to try this at my next event.  I think it will get women more excited about booking an appt.

I thought about making my own facial spritz too and having it to give out at the events.  I have seen little spray bottles that go on your keychain and how great would that be, they would always think of you when they use it.  Then when they run out, they would book with you and you could offer a refill when booking x appt.  I think I may have to incorporate this, I like it.  LOL

How did you like the Glo?  I really love most of the line but I dislike my rep's lack of interaction and guidance and the cs isn't great, and shipping is killing me.  I want to eventually move to most skin scripts once I get more income and can afford to switch lines.

Please keep me posted on your events, I am so excited for you.  I just opened my room in Feb and it's been slow but it's getting there.  Also, look into joining a networking group in your area.

May want to try to incorporate Girls night out at your place too.  I started and although I haven't have anyone book yet, the ladies are really excited about it.

Sangria and Spray Tans

Wine and Waxing

Margaritas and mini facials

4-6 girls, I provide light snacks and beverages, $30 a person.

A great idea too for those spa nights is whoever host the party is free or they get more perks. That way it they will push to have the party and probably invite more friends.

Man it's slow but I think it will pick up soon. I think I will incorporate Shelley's idea into it too. I think it will build up the anticipation.

I liked Glo but I think they are pretty expensive and my clients didnt really buy the retail. With skin scripts I have just been buying a little at a time. I have been buying retail size until I can really afford to get a larger back bar. But what I do is keep the retail size product for sale and then use the sample that comes with it on the client. Once the client pays for the facial I can then afford to buy another product and the client has the chance to buy the retail. I hope the way I'm wording it isnt too confusing lol. I also use the sample sized enzyme and use the money from the facial to buy the full sized product lol!

I am actually doing a fall skin care/makeup class in September. I will demo a facial product and a fall makeup trend. The class will cost $15 per person and they get a product as a gift. I am working with a private label makeup company to retail my own line of makeup. I will have product on hand for purchase and offer pre booking discounts.

We should definitely keep feeding off one another!!
