Hello,

How many of you independent esthes use an autoclave? I am starting my business and am a bit limited on my budget.  The autoclave I would like to get is $1,000 which is a lot.

I am curious to know what percentage of esthes use one.  Thanks.

Most (if not all) State Boards require aestheticians to use Barbacide+ to sanitize instruments between clients and do not require an autoclave.  An autoclave isn't necessary and in my experience, most aestheticians do not purchase/use them.  Working in a plastic surgery office, I used the barbacide+ to sanitize microderm tips, extractors, tweezers, etc. between clients even though we had an autoclave.  The UV sanitizer may be used in addition to the barbacide+ to store instruments but is not considered a substitute for Barbacide+.

Hope this helps answer your question.  I am interested in reading other's feedback on this as well,

Thank you so much for your input.

I use Barbacide as well, I have a UV sanitizer/hot towel cabbie, but I see no reason to use it for that and we have an autoclave for our use, don't believe anyone has used it-I rent a room-Texas
