Hello all.. I hope everyone is having a busy summer! Quick question... what's the best way to add or ask on my release form if clients suffer from STD's or any recent outbreaks? I don't want to be rude but I want to make sure I don't spread anything to other parts of their body!
Thanks all

Hi Tiffany, on some forms they ask "are you prone to cold sores." others are ask like if the person has infectious or contagious issues. I know that it's a sensitive subject, but if you go to various skincare lines and look at their consultation forms they each ask health questions differently. I think States have different rules what is asked?
I hope you find a great solution!
If you go to the wax queen's forum or website, she has a form you can print out, asking a couple of questions, they initital that they read them. I beleive legally, they don't have to tell you.
Thanks for the advice...I will look into it now!
I think it has to be a combination of a good form and a good way of presenting it to the client so they feel comfortable about answering all the questions honestly. People are more likely to be shy about mentioning STDs than other medical conditions and especially if they think "it won't make a difference so I won't mention it." Or they might also be afraid that if they have something, they won't be allowed to get the service (maybe this is true, or maybe not...)
Do you have a little speech for when you hand them the form, something like "I keep all this information completely private, but it's very important for me to know of any conditions you might have, so I can take steps if necessary to prevent making it worse."
Maybe it would help to soften the question if you made it clear that you're asking for the client's own safety? As you said, you want to make sure you don't spread or worsen anything that they have going on, and if you make it clear that you're asking for that reason, it could encourage them to be more forthcoming with their answer. If I were that client I think it could be embarrassing, but I'd get over it if it meant not making the "condition" any worse!! :-)
