I had a client bring her friend in to the studio today. The friend asked me if I could wax her as well but told me she took accutane for 2 months (last time 4 months ago). I told her that is was not a good idea unless she had been off of it for at least 6  months. She wanted her legs and bikini waxed. Although I love new clients I am not will ing to wax her is it could be an issue. What are your thoughts? Thanks everyone!!! xoxo

Hello Tiffany,  I was reading in our school text book, and also called my instructor, about this.  The book and my instructor indicates that no waxing is to be performed on clients unless they have not used Accutane for at least

6 to 12 months.

I think you made the correct call on this. Hopefully she will wait and return to you in a couple more months. Maybe you can give her a new client discount (small of course) for returning in the future and her trusting your judgement as a professional on this. It's not like you did not want to wax her,  you just wanted to make certain that it was going to be safe for her.  Good call!

Thanks Diane. It just did not seem right. I did not want the possibility of hurting her or her skin to be looming over my head. I am sure she will find someone to wax her... Just not me! She seemed really nice so I told her to check back with me in the future. Thanks for your response.

When we are not sure about a treatment, don't do it!!! Better to be safe than sorry later. I do hope she will have taken your advice and return to you for her future waxings.

Great advice Diane!

Good call Tiffany !!!!
