Oooh, Laura, I would love info on your dvd....unlike many of you, I did not really have much of an acne problem as a teen and these days, it's just the occasional minor peri-menopausal break-out.  What got me treating acne was the number of my adult clients who begged me to treat their teens.  Yes, it's very satisfying work, and I am really looking forward to what I can learn and share here!

@Rachael - good point!  My clients all get a little acne "workshop" when they get a consult from us.  We give them a whole packet of information that includes lifestyle changes they need to make, pore-clogging ingredients they need to avoid, drugs/meds/chemicals they need to be aware of, etc.  It truly is a multi-faceted approach you need to take with them.

The client needs to be compliant for sure, not just with their homecare regimen but also by making the necessary changes to their lifestyle in terms of hygiene, hydration, and avoiding trigger foods.

Yes, the client needs to be super-compliant especially with noninflamed acne.  It's the toughest type of acne to get under control.

Having had acne makes you much more compassionate to those who suffer!  I feel like we have the best jobs in the world, don't you?

I have dealt with acne since I was about 10 years old.  I have had stage 3 and stage 4 acne for most of my life.  It cleared up temporarily in my twenties, but then came back during and after my pregnancies.  I have had problems treating it, since I don't like to use medications that have side effects and I don't like to use ingredients that are potentially toxic or harmful.  I finally found a great product line and have been managing the acne with just my skin care regimen and some small lifestyle and dietary changes.  I plan on focusing on acne treatment/management very strongly in my career.  I look forward to reading tips for those of you who have a lot of experience successfully treating this disorder.

Acne for me is on of my favorite skin conditions to treat an teach about. It is so rewarding to know you have really helped your clients skin begin to histologically change for the better. I myself have struggled with Acne and have managed to keep in under control.
