HydraFacial machine by Edge Systems

I'm considering getting the HydraFacial machine from Edge Systems. I know that they have a few models available in different price points, but haven't decided which would be the best investment, yet.  Has anyone used it, or currently own one, if so what do you think of it?  Better / worse than other microderm machines? Ease of use?  How have your clients responded to it?  Would you use / purchase it again?  I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or recommendations on this.  Thanks in advance!

Hi Tiffany...I purchased the tabletop one years ago and didn't keep it for very long. I also worked with the larger unit at a medi spa I was helping with a start-up. Honestly? The results were nice but I wanted more than just nice for the investment. Unless they've lowered the cost since I made my purchase years ago, I'm not a big fan.

I think it ranges from $7K-29K depending on the model which is a big investment.  Is there a microderm machine that you prefer?

I really really like the Dermasweep. It's very different from a typical microderm machine.

Check it out on my website:

    Hi Tiffany,

I just saw it demo'd at ICES Philadelphia this weekend and while it produced a dewey complexion post treatment, there is no way that I would invest $20-30,000 for this piece of equipment. If I were going to spend that amount of money it would be on a laser platform. I found it interesting that they are claiming that it produces 3x the effect of IPL. I used to run the Alma Harmony laser system that had IPL handpieces at 515, 540 and 570nm and I find it hard to swallow that 1 hydrafacial could possibly rival anything that was produced by the Alma system in combatting visible sun damage. I say, save your money and I agree with Shelley about Dermasweep. I don't have one but I think that it is a piece of equipment that delivers what it promises. Good luck.

@Raquel Try www.evasesthetics.com she has great educational dvd's and offers classes as well. The dvd's are great. I used her original titled The Whole Ball of Wax about 10 years ago when it was available on vhs. Great info even back then. I just attended a workshop by Lori Nestore at ICES and she really is fabulous. Good luck.

Thanks for all of the valuable advice, everyone!!  I had the sales rep do a couple demo's at my spa, and after seeing the results and talking with my models about their impressions, I completely agree with Shelley -- the results are nice, but I want more than just nice for that kind of an investment.

    thanks

Hi Tiffany! I briefly worked at a spa that had the HydraFacial machine, I did several facials with it and also received the facial a few times. It is fantastic and  the results I found were great. If you purchase the machine just be sure to have the Rep for it train everyone as the video/dvd is a little different in the procedures shown. It is easy and actually fun and the products that go with it are great!

@Juliette: Sorry, but I don't know any good sites for used equipment. However, you can always call whatever company makes the equipment that you are interested and ask if they have used equipment (generally from demos or returns/upgrades).

@Lise: I put this equipment purchase on hold for now, but I'm glad to hear that you really liked it. :-)

I own the HydraFacial Nectre & I feel confident their are plenty of other owners who have developed their OWN highly effective solutions & serums as a response to the high cost of purchasing it's specific solutions/serums.  My hope is that some of these "forward-thinkers" could share their formulations with me.  I look forward to the flood of responses!!! (BTW...I purchased my machine from it's original owner & was no longer under warranty, so I am aware that if it was, it would void that warranty.)
