I think whenever someone starts a new line that breakouts are possible.  (And I don't like that when it happens).  The Vitamin C can certainly migrate under the skin to the neck area.  I also believe the neck area is more sensitive.  Also, some people are sensitive around the eyes to the Vitamin C (it makes them flakey).  Maybe the Vitamin C is too strong for her?  For example, some companies have 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% Vitamin C to fit a range of skin sensitivies.  Being a smaller company, I went right in the middle with 15% and have only one Vitamin C.  Another thought (because the point of a Vit C is antioxidants) is using the Peptide Restoration Moisturizer.  It's packed with White Tea, Alpha-lipoic acid, Co-Q10, which are great antioxidants.  To answer your question, yes, it can be normal to breakout, but it should be infrequent with clients.

Thanks for your insight! Much appreciated!

Lisa, do I need to neutralize the glycolic/lactic peel even when I’m using it as a booster with an enzyme ?

  • Casandra Ocampo

Can somebody share how do you charge for your peels and about how much?

  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Casandra - regarding neutralizing, always neutralize if the client is tingly after removing the enzyme (with or without a boost).  Normally, I do not neutralize when I add a glycolic or lactic to an enzyme, but safety first, if you feel you need to, please do.

Note:  Whenever you use a lactic or glycolic alone (or as a separate layer), always neutralize.  Some estheticians are choosing to layer their enzyme and peel and if anyone does layer (instead of mix), you absolutely need to neutralize.

  • Casandra Ocampo

Thanks Lisa, I've been using your products for almost a year and every time I added peels to an enzime was wondering about this, but once i finished the treatment I completely forgot to ask you! Thanks again!!

  • Sheila Gordon

Hey Lisa, I knwo you ahve the APF Lip balm but have you ever considered putting a lip treatment out?  I am always looking for a nice lip scrub and then treatment like a peptide lip serum or something.  Just curious :).

Also, will you have product for sale at the show next weekend or will it be order only?  I am really looking forward to seeing you!!

  • Lisa VanBockern

    Hi Sheila:

Yes, I have thought about a nice lip scrub and treatment; I just need to make it happen.  Try the Tri-Peptide Eye Cream on the lips - it really soothes chapped lips.

Yes, we will have product for sale at the show.  Because these are new territories for us at these particular trade shows (Philly and Ft. Lauderdale), we aren't bringing lots and lots of product, so come by early if you want to pick it up at the show.

By the way, we will start the trade show specials for both this weekend (Philadelphia) and next weekend (Ft. Lauderdale).  It will be the same special of "Choose 6 items, the least amount one is free".  It will be offered from October 26-30 and November 2-6.

  • Sheila Gordon

Great news, thanks!  See you then.

I was using one called sugar lips and now I just use the bioelements one.  I will have to try the eye cream for the lips, great idea!

Hi I am looking for an esty who practices in Orange County California using skin scripts. My sister has hyperpigmentation and I would like her to talk to someone who is using Lisa's 8 week TCA protocol :)  Thanks Megan

  • Lisa VanBockern

    Hi Megan:

For an esthetician in Orange County, please visit www.skinscriptrx.com and click on the retailers tab at the top.  Insert your zip code and you will find the nearest esthetician.  Thanks!

  • Megan

    Thanks Lisa I did:)

  • Ligia Quintanar

Hi!! I ordered the Retail Sample Pack and the Professional Sample Pack to try this brand.... My problem is that I don't know how to use them, how to combine them. I learned how to use Dermalogca at school but I believe this is quite different.... Any suggestions? Thanks :)

  • Lisa VanBockern

    Hi Ligia:

You should have received a protocol packet with your samples.  I am e-mailing these protocols to you separately also.  We also offer product knowledge webinars twice a month.  You can register for them at www.skinscriptrx.com and click on the training schedule.  You can also feel free to e-mail me at any time.  Or call the office and speak with Julie or Megan on how to use the product.  Thanks!

  • Carleen McIlveen

The TCA peel protocol says to send the client home with it on.  What is the preferred time range to keep the peel on before removing it, max and min. The client I am considering using this with has acne scars, that are pitted, but not discolored (no hyperpigmentation).

  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Carleen:  Yes, the TCA should be left on for 8 hours (max 16 hours, minimum 4 hours).  If there are no issues, the client can sleep with it on to intensify the peel.  It is a beta peel, so it will self neutralize.  I have attached my pitted acne scar protocol - let me know what you think.

is the vanilla clove mask all gone?

  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Robin - yes, the Vanilla Clove Mask is all gone.  We offer limited-edition items for holidays and we only order a certain amount so once they are gone, they are gone.  This was a popular mask, so we will consider bringing it back for the holidays in 2013.  Watch for the Chocolate Mask paired with the Raspberry Peach Enzyme for Valentines.  We will launch this on January 1.

  • Amber

Hi Lisa, I wanted to tell you that I tried the Pom cleanser mixed with the glycolic cleanser ( tip from facebook) and loved it!!! I mixed it in a small dish and brushed it on my clients face while she was steaming from hairline to chest. While it was doing its magic I applied my glycolic/ pumpkin lotion to her feet, wrapped them in bags and put them in heated boots (those stayed on the duration of the facial). I then removed the Pom/ glycolic cleanser with the skin spatula and removed the remaining with green tea cleanser and hot towels. I was amazed at how clean and fresh her skin looked just after the cleanse!! Highly recommend :)))
  • Cheryl Bruss

Hi Amber that sounds great! Wondering if you did any other masking or enzyme during this treatment ? Thanks

  • Amber

Hi Cheryl, yes I followed up with a glycolic/retinol pad to de-grease the skin and the passionfruit enzyme massaged into the neck and face for 7minutes, removed with the skin spatula and washed with the green tea cleanser and removed with cool towels. I then infused the skin with freshly steeped green tea (cooled) pressed in the skin with a sponge and further infused into the skin with the spatula (this reduces inflammation and calms the skin) I then used 2 drops of pure HA directly on the skin and mixed the hydrating serum and c-serum and applied to the skin, the peptide eye serum around the eyes followed with the goji berry mask chest to hairline and sea weed mask around eyes and on lips. I removed the mask after 20mins (massaged the feet during mask treatment) removed mask with cool towels, infused more HA, C and hydrating serum with spatula in upwards motion concentrating on nasal labial lines, cheeks and eye area. Followed up with sunblock/moisturizer.
  • Cheryl Bruss

Awesome! Wow! What a facial! also Amber whats the pumpkin lotion is it the enzyme and glycolic acid mixed or the glycolic cleanser? I will definitley be giving this a try. Thanks much

  • Amber

Hi Cheryl, I actually use glycolic acid mixed with an organic pumpkin body balm (it's a local company portland oregon area) I smear that all over the feet, cover with plastic and electric warming boots. After an hour in the boots clients feet are softer than any pedicure will ever leave you :)
  • Cheryl Bruss

Amber I've been searching online for an organic pumkin balm and I can not find any would love the link or a name of the company you get yours from if you dont' mind sharing, Thanks for all the inspiration!

  • Jennifer Hustack

Hello! I have been researching product lines for months. I finished school November 1st, however, my testing date isn't until February 8th. I am doing booth rental and in Ohio you can't use a Work Permit in a booth rental situation. So, since I willl have so much down time now, i would like to get working the day after I test. I would like to try Skin Script to see if they are the line I want to use. The closest retailer to me is 56 miles away. Is there somewhere I can get more info than what is on the website and buy products online to use on myself?
  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Jennifer.  Please call the office at 480-543-1121.  We do work with esthetic students if you can provide your student identification information.

  • Jennifer Hustack

Thanks Lisa! I will give you guys a call on Monday!
  • Robin Lemon

I finally have a free day to watch the webinar cd, but the webinars are not playing the video part, only audio.  I did install the gotomeeting codec, but that did not change anything. Am I missing something else possibly?

  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Robin.  It sounds like you have the codec installed.  Try re-booting the computer and trying it again.  If you still have problems, please call me at 480-543-1121.  Thanks!

  • Casandra Ocampo

Hi Lisa and Candance, now that I saw Robins post I realized I haven't received my DVD. Should I wait a little longer for it?

  • Lisa VanBockern

I'll put another one in the mail today.

  • Shelley Hancock

This morning I did a quick pass with the dermasweep, one pass with the Radiancy FSD....FOUR layers of  Skin Script TCA, put the client under the red LED panel for 15 minutes, then penetrated the seaweed mask in with my electroporation machine....WOW, she looked awesome!!!! I'll talk about this more at the workshop tomorrow Lisa....good stuff!!

  • Lisa VanBockern

Megan:  I e-mailed you the list of products on Tuesday.  Let me know if you have questions - it's only a suggestion; remember we have no minimums so you can customize your orders.

Shelece:  I'm so glad you are trying the products.  I hope you love them and find the results you are looking for.

Shelley:  I'm heading to the airport right now.  I can't wait to see you tomorrow (in Foster City, CA) and hear about all your new protocols.  I really enjoy our trainings, which are more like a "lunch and learn".

For everyone else, please visit www.skinscriptrx.com and click on the trainings tab - within the next few months I will visit Long Beach, CA, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana and I would like to have you join us for a product knowledge training (with lunch of course).

Dave Waggoner (Skin Script's advanced training director) stays in the Tempe, AZ office and offers his 2-day advanced training for estheticians on skin physiology.  This is also a free class, but it will not go on the road.  Arizona is a great place to visit and we encourage you to travel to Arizona for Dave's 2-day Skin-Tensive Class; I promise you will love it as it is all about the skin and how it works (maybe 10% about product).  If you're craving knowledge on skin physiology, this is the class for you.

  • Toni B LaHaye

HI Lisa - are the trainings that you are holding on the road focused more on products vs. professional treatments?  I'm in Louisiana and would love to attend! Didn't know if training would also touch on treatments.  Thanks! Toni

  • Lisa VanBockern

    Hi Toni:

My product knowledge class is 25% exfoliant fundamentals (regardless of whether you are using Skin Script or another line), pigmentation issues lessons, and oxidative stress issues.  The other 75% is learning and touching each product (both professional and retail) that Skin Script offers.  We give you a training manual with product info, then we go through each product, touch and feel it and let you know what its good for.  We perform 4 demonstrations of (1) a standard enzyme, (2) an enzyme boosted with acids (and combined with mechanical exfoliation), (3) a glycolic peel, and (4) a TCA peel.  It's a free training because we are educating you on how to use Skin Script products (both professional and retail).  There is no obligation to purchase, but its my opportunity to tell/demonstrate how I use SS enzymes to be as gentle or aggressive as you, the esthetician, want them to be.  Yes, it is focused on treatments; however, you get the whole picture of homecare and professional treatments as we know those go hand-in-hand.

As an FYI, I've had estes tell me at lunch at a training, that they thought this offer must be a joke.  Who offers a free training?  I'm an este myself and I love this business and I enjoy meeting other estes and hearing their stories.   I enjoy ladies luncheons and talking about skin care.  No hidden agenda, just want to share skin care.

  • Nikki T.

    Hi Lisa.

I think that is wonderful that you are offering your classes free. How generous of you to share!  Would you happen to be traveling to Texas anytime soon? I live in Houston.  Btw, I am also new to the Skinscript family.  :)

  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Nikki:  I don't have any plans for Houston, but I will go to Ft. Worth sometime in 2013 (nothing solid yet).  However, I know Houston is about 2 hours away from New Orleans, right?  I will be in New Orleans on April 17, would that work for you?  If so, please call us at 480-543-1121 or e-mail info@skinscriptrx.com to register for that class.
