Hi Lisa I really hope you will be able to make it to Ft.Worth. That will be great, and I personally know some Estheticians that would love to attend. Please keep us posted thanks:)
Lisa, I was looking through my protocols and I don't see anywhere that the retinol scrub is used. is this more for home use? I normally use a clarisonic but was thinking of bringing a scrub back. I am getting ready make the transition so I will be placing my order today.
Hi Sheila - this is one of those tricks you will learn in my product knowledge, exfoliant fundamental class. Yes, the retinol scrub is a homecare product, but I use it on the backbar as well.
I like retinols (vit a) for softening open comedomes (blackheads) so extractions are easier. Based on that, when I perform my skin analysis and see that someone needs a lot of extractions, I will (1) have the steam rolling, (2) put down a layer of retinol scrub directly on the impacted pores and manipulate it in with my finger tips, then (3) put an enzyme on top of the retinol scrub for 7-10 minutes, all under steam. It makes extractions so much easier. Keep in mind that you are adding a mini Vit A peel to their treatment, so they could be flakey in the next few days.
I don't have this recorded in a protocol, as its an "add in" for help with extractions. Let me know if you have questions.
I get this question a lot. When I started Skin Script (with help of a team of people) the Vitamin A serum was a mixup. The Vitamin A serum we requested showed up with jojoba beads in it. We asked "why the jojoba beads, the Vit A does the exfoliation". The chemist replied and said it was an error that they put the jojoba beads in the Vit A serum. We had the samples in hand (with the jojoba beads) and we fell in love with it. It was then called "Retinol Scrub". However, I understood the need for a stay-on Vit A. I asked my group could we have both a Retinol Scrub and a Retinol Serum in the line? We all loved our glycolic cleanser too and we were torn on which products to launch/carry. We ended up going with the 17% Glycolic Cleanser and the Retinol Scrub combination. They were our favorites. Being a small company, we become limited on the amount of products offered. Could we offer both Retinol Serum and Scrub? For now, I am going with my stand-by favorites of the Glycolic Cleanser and the Retinol Scrub (which has been a classic, proven combination in my experience). I do hear everyone loud and clear when it comes to Retinol Serums, so maybe one day as we grow I can bring the Retinol Serum on board. I have it on the wish list. Thanks for your question.
By the way, I understand each este's opinion and experience; other great skin care companies such as PCA, Rhonda Allison, CosMedix are offering that Vit A serum. They are great companies and each company has its offering; for now I defer to them if you need that serum. That might sound odd to some of you that I would refer you to a competitor, but I feel each company can have their expertise and offer it well.
Hi Lisa- Thank you for going "out of the box" by communicating with your customers. I really appreciate the way you educate your customers. I learn something from you every day...there are not many "companies" out there that share the things you do. And yes I also appreciate your realisim in that you are not afraid to say SS is good with this but ABC is good with that....again Thank you! Megan
Hi Lisa! I just passed my State Boards. I already have an account set up with my student contract. Do you need a copy of my license? Also, I ordered your recommended start-up products. I was wondering if you have any posters or signs? I am planning on opening March 2nd and I wanted to put signs/posters in the window. I need to push the marketing now that I have an opening date!!
Angel-I am beyond excited! I did a dance to my car and sat in it with the biggest grin when I got my results. I am so happy to be doing something that doesn't feel like "work" to me. Now, I just have to get my room done and hang the "Open for Business" sign. ;)
It is awesome to be able to go to work and be just as relaxed as the client we are working on!!! I wish I would have figured this out a long time and 3 schools ago... Lol. Big career change at this stage in my life, but so worth it!!! I am very happy for you!!! :-)
I love the car dance! Congrats! We have more posters and brochures coming so I will put the posters and a sampling of the brochures in the mail on Friday (they are at the printer right now). I will e-mail you some ideas for start-up. Thanks!
Hi Lisa,
I got my products today, that I ordered... Yeaaaaa!!! I am so excited to try them.. Can you send me some posters as well? I would love to have some.
Thank you so much!! :-)
Are the posters going to be up to purchase Lisa. I just blew up the #1 toner of 2012 one for my retail area Love it ! hanks cant wait to see brochures as well
Hi All: The posters are free. Just request them from either me or Candace (marketing@skinscriptrx.com). We also have new color brochures being printed that will replace the black/white rack cards. The brochures we will charge $2 for a set of 12. They will be available in Normal/Combo, Roseacea/Sensitive, Oily, Mild Acne, Moderate Acne, Dry, Hyperpigmentation, and Pre/Post Peel. We can also send a sampling of these as well. Just e-mail me at lisa@skinscriptrx.com and I'll get them off.
They are currently at the printer, so it will be Friday before we can mail anything.
Are the posters the same ones you had before? If so, then I'm ok. Other wise I'd like to have them, also I definitely like to have the brochures samples. I just put an order this morning, maybe you can send all together. Thank you very much for ALL your support. <3
Yes, we do have samples. Our retail sample pack is $15 and includes a sample size of each retail product (excluding the blemish spot tx and the 2 peptide eye products). We also have a professional sample pack for $15 which includes a .25 oz of each enzyme, mask and peel offered by Skin Script. If you are interested, please call 480-543-1121 or create an account at www.skinscriptrx.com.
Lisa, congrats on the article in SKin Deep. You shared some valuable information for anyone desiring to go down this path. You've Come a Long Way Baby!
You always have a big smile on your face. That's what draws others to you. You probably don't rememer me but I met you at a dermaplaning class in Tempe and I haven't forgotten you. I also had the pleasure of hearing Dave(?) speak in Phoenix last year.
I was wondering if SkinScript has a protocol for facial. For example, I know that Dermalogica has different facial protocols for their line (Medi-bac, Core-Facial, Anti-Aging).
It's tough to pick a favorite because I love them all Hong. They all have different benefits so I guess it depends on what type of results you are looking for. Right now one of my favorite ones is the lemon zest. I just added it (I have the coconut, cranberry sugar cane, pumpkin, pomegranate, raspberry peach, passionfruit and lemon).
Hi Lisa. I already have a new account with Skinscript. However, i do not have any of your suggested facial protocols for the products. Could you please email me those protocols as well?
1) With all these great pics of your products with info are you planning on making a CD or place on your website for us to download and use? I know you are making your own marketing materials that we can purchase, which is awesome, but just something we can you use to make point of sale signs, or reuse on our biz facebook posts.
2) Are you going to be doing any classes in Chicago any time soon?
Lizabeth - you can copy/paste Skin Script pictures from our website (www.skinscriptrx.com). Have you visited our Facebook page? Candace has lots of marketing pictures for you to share on your facebook. Yes, we will be in Chicago in 2 weeks for the Face & Body Tradeshow, Room W179A, Sunday, March 10 from 3-4:30. Yes, we do have a new facial special coming out this afternoon for a March facial - watch your e-mail.
Hong: I'm not sure what an "achieve seminar" is. I have a training schedule at: https://skinscriptrx.com/training-schedule/ Please visit that page to see all the available training dates. We also offer a DVD that contains all of our recorded webinars and product demonstrations. You can request that directly from me at lisa@skinscriptrx.com. Thanks!
Nikki: I just e-mailed you the protocols for our facials.
Hi Lisa and wonderful Skin Script Team!, I just got my new posters and brochures for "Moderate Acne" they are awesome!!, the posters are beautiful and eye catching and the brochures very explicit and informative for both the client and ourselves, this does our sales job a lot more easy! ;)
Do you have a similar brochure for Hyperpigmentation/Melasma with "Suggested Home Care" and "Do and Don't" before and after the Depigmentation Treatment??
Thank you very much for ALL your support, you guys are exceptional!!
Casandra - yes, we have a brochure for "Pre/Post Peel Care" for the peel series. We also have a brochure for Hyperpigmentation/Melasma. Remember that these brochure protocols need to be tweaked by the aesthetician so it fits your client's skin type and sensitivities.
I am LOVING the new brochures!! I got to hand out my first one today along with the $100 in product my client purchased. Thanks Lisa for making selling retail so easy and straight forward!!
Side note, I just fully brought SS on 3 weeks ago where I am selling retail and using complete protocols and in those 3 weeks I have probably sold about $600 if not more in product. Not bad considering I only worked one day the first week I had the product because I went on vacation!!
Question, I for right now only brought on the light aloe moisturizer and the ageless. Is the ageless still ok for dry skin clients? I know you recommend hydrating moisturizer. I always recommend the ageless serum to go with it.
Sheila: Yes, the Ageless Skin Moisturizer can be used for dry skin. I consider that moisturizer a great, classic moisturizer that can fit most skin types. Your drier-skin clients may want something heavier for night, such as the Acai Berry, Peptide Restoration, or Hydrating Moisturizer.
Thanks for the nice comment about the colorful brochures! Candace, our marketing/graphics person, was a wish come true. I hope you received the posters as well. I'm glad we can make selling/recommending easier for you. :)
I have been strongly considering Skin Script and I just ordered the two sample packs. I was about 99% sure that this would be my new skincare line. However, in reading the product ingredients, I am so disappointed to read of multiple products containing denatured alcohol. I spoke to a sweet girl on the phone who suggested that Lisa will call or email me (and Lisa I know that you are very active on this board so I'm sure that you will be in touch soon)! My two huge issues with lines are a) lines that don't offer or believe in toners and b) SD alcohol... At first I thought it was just in the Oily Skin toner, but now I'm seeing it in at least a handful of other products. Can someone please offer any input in regards to this? I'm looking for an effective, but generally naturally-sourced product that is safe but results-oriented. This is of utmost importance to me. Typically, SD Alcohol and Petrochemicals are public enemies #1 and 2 for me so I'm hoping that there may be a solution in this range for me. Thank you!!
Alcohol gets a bad rap in my mind. Its a great solvent to dissolve ingredients so that we our ingredients can spread through the product evenly without separation, etc. We can counteract any drying effect with other ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, heavy water, etc. For example, you mention your current lines don't like toners. I LOVE LOVE LOVE our cucumber hydrating toner - it does have alcohol and a solution to dissolve ingredients, but it has much more in the way of hydrating ingredients (heavy water) to offset it. I don't understand the philosophy of no toner - I feel that once you exfoliate, we need to add hydration back into the skin and one of those steps is a toner. I hope this helps!
I wouldn't choose a line that doesn't use toners...but I have noticed many lines saying they aren't necessary. I believe that the skin can only return to a proper pH after washing or even just water with a toner. But I've always been a huge opponent of alcohol (denatured) because it is so drying. I ordered the sample pack so I will have to give it a try. Thanks to responding.
Hey Lisa, I was just curious if you guys have ever considered adding a mandelic into the line to help treat acne? Have you had any experience with that? I purchased Face Reality's to use personally and the mandelic really helps clear up blemishes so I was curious if you have had any experience with mandelic?
