I have a client coming in next week. But because of her skin condition, facial psoriasis, I had ask her for a Dr. ok to touch her. Just wondering has anyone helped a client with such condition using Skin Script?? I'm not sure if I can help her. Thank in advance

  • Dave Waggoner

    Hi Pamela,

Dave here from Skin Script. Facial psoriasis is certainly a challenge! You're right to check in with the doctor as psoriasis is a medical condition. I suggest following the doctors lead on this one. Will this client have a prescription medication?

I suggest that you start very gently with our enzymes. Consider using our Raspberry/Peach Enzyme or our Coconut/Papaya enzyme. As you recall, these enzymes contain no acids. Also, keep the treatment "cool"...use cooler water, no steam and removal of product with cool aesthetic wipes. Focus on gentle treatments. Offer the skin support in the way of hydration (Ageless Hydrating Serum) and of course sunscreen.

Let us know how it goes!

  • Pamela Chiarizzi

Thank you, Dave, for your response. Client will wait for the OK from her Dr. I will keep everyone posted :)

  • Nicole Gill

Hi there, are there any products I should not be using on clients who are pregnant besides the ones containing retinol? Thanks so much!!
  • Vicki Miller

Best to avoid acids & products with acids in them ;)
  • Kristy Floyd

The only two enzymes that contain no acids are the raspberry peach and the coconut papaya.  So they are safe for women who are pregnant or lactating. :)  And you're right, definitely no retinol.

  • Lisa VanBockern

Nicole: Vicki & Kristy answered perfectly!  No acid (glycolics, retinols, salicylics, lactics, etc.) on pregnant women.

  • Nicole Gill

    Great thank you!! :)

Lisa.....can't wait to see you and the Skin Script gang in Long

Beach this weekend, We're in booth 252....I think we're so close we can wave at ya from our booth! Safe travels and we'll see you Sunday!

  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Shelley!  We're in Booth 134 so we will see you there!  We are looking forward to it.  See you in Long Beach!

  • Christyn Harvey

Hi Shelly I was wondering if you will be getting any more of the apple mask in this season? I went online today to order the mask enzyme combo but found no mask available. I am really hoping you will have some in soon I really wanted to use this as my fall special!

  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Christyn:  The Apple enzyme is still available, but we did sell out of the Autumn Spice Hydrating Mask (so the set isn't available any more).  These are "limited edition" products so when we sell out, they are gone!  Maybe we will bring it back next year.  We currently have the "Booberry Facial" which is a set of Blueberry Enzyme and Goji Berry Mask.  We also have the "Pumpkin Cheesecake Facial" which is a set of Pumpkin Enzyme and Goji Berry Mask.  We will be releasing a Christmas set soon.  Watch your e-mail newsletter for the release!  Thanks.

Lisa...one of the Estys that gets toys from me called me today asking for some ideas to promote your October facial on her faceboook page. This is what we came up with:

"Coming in October.....Spooky Boo-Berry facial treatment that leaves you with a bewitching glow! Add a Boo-ster peel to your treatment that will leave your face more illuminated than your jack-o-lantern!"

  • Lisa VanBockern

I love it!  This is such a cute facial (utilizing our normal Blueberry Enzyme and Goji Berry Mask) that gets real results!  If anyone is concerned about it being too tingly for some skin types, please blend 1 part blueberry enzyme and 1 part goji berry yogurt mask to dilute the effect of the blueberry enzyme.

  • Shelley Hancock

I'm in Florida right now giving a couple of workshops and Florida Estys love you Lisa!! Every workshop I give, it never fails that we start talking about Skin Script.

  • Lisa VanBockern

Shelley:  Hurray!  The feeling is mutual when I visit Florida, we always start talking Shelley Hancock and all your modalities/toys.  I hope you have a great trip!  Tell all my Florida friends hi!

  • Madalene MaGee

I do chemical. Peels on my clients monthly, alternating glycolic and lactic usually. Sometimes Cranberry turnover, and recently added the TCA. I have a few clients that want to come after three weeks. Is that too often?
  • Cindy Greenwood

Madalene - Skin needs to rest for 6 weeks after the TCA. But other than that one, use your professional opinion based on the condition of the clients skin. Some people would benefit from a little extra exfoliation, some not...

  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Madalene:  I perform peels or enzymes on a monthly basis for maintenance.  I like to use my glycolic and/or lactic once a week for 6 weeks to achieve specific results.  On the cranberry turnover, I can space those as close at 10 days apart (alternating with some deep pore facials).  On the Skin Script TCA, if you apply 2 layers, you can perform those 3 weeks apart.  If you apply more than 2 layers, let the skin rest longer.

  • Madalene MaGee

Thank you Lisa. On the TCA client I did only one layer of TCA after the three week period. She is one of the clients that wants service every three weeks. I have done the series of glycolic and lactic once a week for six weeks on several clients and achieved awesome results. I also did the cranberry turnover weekly on a few cliemts for six weeks. Maybe I need to space that one apart more when I do a series. Thanks for the info!

Lisa....I'm so happy that we'll be right across the aisle from each other at the Chicago Show in March!! This is our first time heading to Chicago. We're pretty excited about it!

  • Lisa VanBockern

It will be the Shelley & Skin Script show!  It will be so much fun!

  • Shelley Hancock

A few weeks ago I called the gals at Skin Script and ask what I could do to make a client peel. I'm not big on peeling but the client wanted it. Lots of Southern California sun damage. I did a glycolic peel (5 minutes), then 4 layers of TCA her and the following week I did the same thing except 5 layers of TCA. She came in yesterday (one week later) and looked AWESOME!! She was soooo happy. We're now doing a Five Day Intensive with LED. She's coming in 5 days in a row to lay under LED for 30 minutes. Whoohoo!

  • Melissa Bradley

Lisa, any chance of Skin Script coming out with a Retinol Serum for night time use any time in the future. I'm a big believer in Retinol, love what it does for my skin and suggest it to my clients but unfortunately I don't have any to sell them because I only carry Skin Script for retail. Is this a possibility?
  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Melissa:  I will let the rest of the skin care companies have the Retinol Serums - it's not something I'm crazy about, so I like my Retinol Scrub product.  I am coming out soon with a natural Vitamin A (Beta Carotene) product that will stay on the skin.  It should be released in 2-3 months.  It will be for sensitive, pregnant clients.  Or, someone who wants a natural Vitamin A.  Watch your e-mail newsletter for that release.

  • Melissa Bradley

I too love, love the retinol scrub. Ok, just thought I would check. I will check out the vitamin A though.

    Thanks
  • Tara Borders Dollar

Ok Lisa wierd question. Would the passionfruit enzyme work on a firming level on the Derrière? I have had a bunch of requests lately for some type of Fanny Facial since it's getting to be bikini season soon.
  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Tara:  I'm not sure!!  I haven't used the products on the fanny.  I think you will need lasers or modalities to firm the derriere.  Anyone else have suggestions?

  • Bryndl Mar

I do bum treatments a lot and use the SS products for them. Really if they want to firm their butt they should look at exercise...squats and lunges will firm that right up!

  • Tara Borders Dollar

Bryndl would you be willing to share your protocol? :) Do you clients like the results?
  • Lin

Lisa - anything for teenage "backne", and chest... My son is 15 and has started getting dark spots on his upper chest and upper back from acne... He's a track and football player and also lifts weights... I have proceeded with micro but I think it's time to implement an exfoliant/acid? Any recommendations?
  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Lin:  How about the Raspberry Refining Cleanser (aka Blemish Control Cleanser) as his body wash?  Also use the Blemish Control Pads on those areas.  For professional treatments I would think about the Cranberry Turnover 20% salicylic peel.

  • Lin

    Perfect !
  • Traci Noel Hodge

Good Morning everyone! I am looking for a skin scanner with a camera/PC compatible: which one is highly recommended? Thank you for your input

Hello fellow Skin Script lovers <3 I am currently a licensed esthetician in the state of Maryland, where unfortunately state laws are very limiting. As esthetcians, we are absolutely not able to perform chemicals peels; however, no mentioning of enzymes, so I assume I am safe on that end. I myself have acneic, oily skin- with PIH. Im totally obsessed with what the Pomergranates

Maybe incorporating enzymes and dermafiles? Any ideas or suggestions? Would love to hear your thoughts, Lisa :) P.s. sorry for the multiple "half" posts, my computer is being sooo annoying :/

Lisa and Dave...I am so excited to have you two as my specials guests on my radio show this coming Monday!! I just know that it's going to be an awesome show. We'll be live at 1pm Pacific time.

  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Irene:  I'm glad to hear you are getting great results with the Pomegranate enzyme.  If you cannot use peels, then the Glycolic/Retinol Pads used twice a day, directly on the pigmentation, will help lift the PIH.  Glycolic/Retinol pads have kojic and arbutin with a pH of 3.0 and they are our skin lightening product.  Cleanse, exfoliate (at least 3 times a week with glycolic cleanser), then apply the Glycolic/Retinol pads; do not remove.  Allow at least 30-60 seconds after application, then apply your serums and moisturizers, spf.

  • Lisa VanBockern

Shelley:  We are very excited to be your guests!  Dave and I will be discussing Antioxidants, Peptides and EFAs.  Thank you for the post and we'll talk to you on Monday!

  • Irene Bwewusa

Lisa, Thank you so much for your reply. I'll definitely use that as my home care regimen and also recommend that as a regimen for clients.

As far as the treatment room- customizing and offering treatments for clients, What protocol would you use for this specific kind of client? would the pomegranate be you enzyme of choice? would I get better results incorporating dermafile or any other modality? and how often can I do this treatment?- series of 6 (same frequency of the peels?)

    Thanks again :)

  • Lisa VanBockern

Hi Irene:  I almost always incorporate mechanical exfoliation of some sort (lightly though) in my treatments.  Since you are limited with peels, then yes, proceed with the Pomegranate (or Lemon lightens too) enzyme on a weekly basis for 6 weeks.  Stacking your treatments like this will yield great results.

  • Lisa Hewetson

I had amazing results on myself and a good client w/ the Lemon Zest Facial protocol last year.  I would like to offer it this year to all my clients.  What is the average price to charge per facial? - I would like to throw in 5-10 min of LED with each facial and sell as a package of 6.

Anybody try orange clove yet? How is it.

Best products  to use for Dermaplaning?

  • coldsalineplexus

I believe someone asked about the best products to use for Dermaplaning.  I like to use the Glycolic cleanser, remove thoroughly with 2 hot towels, let skin dry THOROUGHLY and place a layer of non-talc baby powder on top of the skin.  This serves two functions - preventing scrapes and showing where you have already been.  Afterward I really like to tone with Cucumber toner and follow with a mask like goji/yogurt.  If the glycolic retinol pads are in your backbar, you could also tone after cleansing with one or one half of a pad, let dry, apply baby powder, and continue as stated.  Best of luck!

  • Cheri Butler

Thank you so much! I did use the Glycolic Cleanser but the powder is definitely a great idea. Will try this next time. I have been using 10 blades, and thinking of trying 14s. What do you prefer?
