This is very interestng guys... as you can see I have a new headshot. My last one was taken over three years ago before I got all of my fabulous toys (Radiancy, Luminox, Dermasweep, Intraceuticals Oxygen). The one taken over three years ago had touch ups done and the one I just took has none. Okay, I'm not writing this to say "I'm all that"....what I'm saying is that this equipment really works!! I'm going to post the pics side by side on my website. This will be a great testimonial to my clients about what we can achieve in our industry! Have an awesome day everyone!
  • Shelley Hancock

OKay, I think I have finally recovered from the Las Vegas Show. Three days of hearing myself talk and saying the same things over and over again was just way too much!!! I didn't feel like talking in the evenings! It was a great show. I was in the Radiancy booth and we had a lot of fun and sold quite a few machines.  I'll get some new things posted on my website over the weekend, so please be sure to have a look next week.
  • Cindy Greenwood

I was going to comment that I loved your new picture...and you really DID post your old and new pics on your website! LOL Shelley! Lookin' good!

  • Shelley Hancock

    Thanks Cindy!!!

Dr. Starwyn will be back at my Center next Thursday doing a more in-depth demo of the Energy Light Rejuvenation treatment. Anyone in my area is invited to join us!

I'm adding on a third treatment room in my Center....who says the economy is down (actually we never speak those words at the Center). I believe that if you have interesting and effective treatments and a positive attitude to go along with it...the skies the limit!

We found these awesome and unique fountains at the Las Vegas Show! I've been searching for something unusual for my waiting room and I believe I have found it. My husband took a video and it's up on my website: http://www.shelleyhancock.com/spadecor.html

Let me know what you think!

    I love fou

Yesterday I ordered a mini microcurrent/LED/Oxygen Mist machine that I found at the Las vegas Show. I was impressed with this little unit for only $2500 and a 5 year warranty. Made in California!!!

Dr. Starwyn was at my Center yesterday doing an in-depth demo of the ELR machine. We used one of my clients as the model and she looked fabulous when she left. I'll be posting info on my website soon!

Got my little mini microderm machine a few days ago and I love it! It's a little power house and I really like having the oxygen handpiece right on the machine. I've been infusing my firming toner right after I microderm and it feels fabulous. We're going to use it to spray our firming lotion on our clients atfter they get out of the infrared blanket. We keep the lotion in the frig and the cold mist really feels good after being so hot in the blanket.

Just a thought: Have fun and the money will come! That just came to mind as I was writing all this fun stuff we're doing at the Center right now. We're having fun and boy is the money coming! Happy Friday.

Our beautiful fountains arrived yesterday!!! We put "The Dancer" in the waiting room and the first client that walked in absolutely gushed over it. We're going to take a video of our waiting room to show just how impressive these fountains are. We have 7 of them on display in our large training room.

My ELR machine from Dr. Starwyn is on its way! I'm very excited to start working with this machine. I will be on a webiner with him on Wednesday August 24th. I'll make a post about the particulars closer to the date. I have a seasoned Esty that's using the machine flying down from Canada for my August 7th event. If you are in the area, I'd love to have you attend. Info and registration are on my website! Happy Saturday everyone!

  • Gina Williamson

Shelley- your comment "Have fun and the money will come" really hit home with me.  As a new esthetician AND sole practicioner, I tend to take things too seriously and let myself feel stress instead of just enjoying the journey and relaxing and having FUN!! I need to keep reminding myself that this isn't rocket science- it's skin care! and helping people feel better about themselves!  That is fun and rewarding.  So thank you for that- I am going to post that everywhere. :-)
  • Shelley Hancock

I'm loving the Solbasio Firming products. I've made up a "Try Me" kit. You get 6 products to try for $65 (shipping included), plus a FREE Lip Effects. The sizes are bigger than a sample and smaller than the retail size and it comes it a nice plastic carrying bag. Details on my website at:

  • Wonda Pearson

Hello Shelley!  Was wondering what your thoughts are on the ELR machine.  I'm still in Esty school and am researching machines and products. Do you think there are other machines that are less expensive and equally effective for a brand new Esty?
  • Shelley Hancock

    Hi Wonda,

As much as I love my new ELR machine, I would not have it be the first piece of equipment for an Esty to invest in. If it's microcurrent that you really want, you can most definitely find something less expensive. I can work with you if you'd like when you get to that point. I have access to much more equipment than just what is on my website. Or if you find something that interests you, run it past me first....sometimes I've heard things (good and/or bad) about pieces of equipment.

There's really quite a bit you can do with little investment to get started. Unless you have a wonderfully huge budget of course! :-)

  • Wonda Pearson

Thanks for your honest reply, Shelley.  No "wonderfully huge budget" here.  I'm starting from scratch.  I've spent a lot of time on your website and find tons of valuable information there.  Thanks so much for what you do!

I sort of suspected that I may be happier with a few small machines and appliances rather than the larger investment on just one machine.  This industry is so exciting and so quickly evolving that I get totally overwhelmed sometimes.

  • Gina Williamson

Wonda- look at the Dermafiles! :-)
  • Wonda Pearson

    Thanks, Gina!  I'll do that.
  • Shelley Hancock

Wonda...please feel free to give me a call if you'd like to chat!

    Gina...thanks for suggesting the Dermafiles!

  • Shelley Hancock

I have some updated thoughts to share with you on this new ERL machine. In an earlier post I stated that it wouldn't be a first piece of equipment and I definitely want to say now, definitely not a first microcurrent machine. You need to be very seasoned with microcurrent to perform this treatment. It quite complex. My gals here that work for me (and me too), have decided that it's not for us. It's an intense hands-on treatment, which is fine for someone looking for that type of treatment.....we're not! Dr. Starwyn is very knowlegable about microcurrent and LED light therapy, so for the right Esty, this equipment is a dream!

So, I'm on the hunt for a quality simple microcurrent machine that's reasonably priced. I tend to shy away from the big name manufacturers and want to support the smaller companies. I want to try and stay away from overseas equipment..too many knock-offs from them! I'm very open to suggestions!

I will be at the San Jose Face and Body Show in a couple of weeks. Come visit me in booth 533!!

  • Cindy Greenwood

Shelley - I am still on the lookout for a reasonably priced microcurrent unit, it doesn't sound like the ERL would be a good match for me.  I have the CompuLift - but not getting the results I was looking for following their protocol.  (sigh) I know, I know - I should just save up for the Radiancy FSD
  • Shelley Hancock

HI Cindy...Yes, you definitely need the Radiancy :) but you also need microcurrent. They are two different modalities. I'm having conversations today with two different microcurrent companies. One here in the States and the other comes from Canada. I have high hopes that one of these will be just perfect. The one made here in the States comes to your facility to do a two day training...included in the price! I like that. I don't think we should have to pay an arm and a leg for a good microcurrent machine or spend a month learning how to use it. I'll write more soon!
  • Cindy Greenwood

    Thanks Shelley!

    On-site training sounds expensive...:)

I don't think that we should have to pay an arm and a leg for good microcurrent either!  I've used a few devices already and the technology can't be that complicated. Pricing is all over the place - I want results, but the cost of some of the big names is staggering! And for the type of treatment and type of results I can't justify that cost.  And the training manuals for the devices are pretty lame - for the one I purchased myself I expected it to be much more thorough (maybe if it's knock-off from china or something, but mine isn't).

  • Gina Williamson

Shelley- I read your article about law of attraction... you said when you started out you would go into your center every day regardless of appt's... I am in a tiny space inside a chiro's office- by appointment only. My hours are opposite the chiro's b/c of the arrangement of the rooms, etc. so I was able to create a 4-day week for myself (W 10-3, TH 1-7, F 10-3, Sat 1-5) where I am taking appt's. Usually there is no one else in the office during those times unless the massage therapist has clients. No front desk receptionist or anything (she is an employee of the chiropractor).

Should I be in there on those days regardless of appointments? I hadn't planned to take walk-ins, again b/c of the arrangement.

It's a little bit of an odd arrangement..... but it's what I've got! haha

I guess I'm not sure the best way to work the situation. I'd love your input.
  • Shelley Hancock

Hi Gina....well, things were very different when I started many years ago. We didn't have cell phones that we carried with us so that we could answer our calls from anywhere. Back then I felt that I needed to be there if and when the phone rang. It's aways nice to hear a real voice. Also there is something about your energy being there in the office...it's like you're saying "I'm here and ready for business".  But we all have busy schedules with kids, etc. so it's not so easy to be present all of the time. if your hours were the same as the Chiro's, I'd say be there as much as possible but that's not the case. One thing I know for sure....if you're not there at your office, check your messages regularly and return phone calls right away. This is very important, clients really appreciate it and it establishs trust and credibility. Hope this helps!!!!
  • Maria Speckman

Shelley, which would you start with, dermaplanes or ultrasonic spatula?

  • Shelley Hancock

Hi Maria...I'm thinking you mean the Dermafiles not Dermaplanes. Am I right? I would go for the Ultrasonic Spatula first because you can exfoliate, extract and penetrate....more bang for your buck!
  • Maria Speckman

Shelley, you are right, I did mean dermafiles.  Are he Ultrasonic spatula really that easy to use?  Are there different kinds I should know about.  If so, which is the one I should be looking into?
  • Shelley Hancock

Yes, the ultrasonic spatula is very easy to use! I have a training video on my website: http://www.shelleyhancock.com/ultrasonicspatula.html

You want a unit with at least 28,000 vibrations per second. I like cordless portable ones personally. At one point years ago I was given a bigger tabletop unit and wasn't impressed at all. You don't need to spend a ton of $$ on a spatula.

  • Virginia Mabbun

Hi Shelley, I just orDered your Spatula and I can't waIt to start Using It. I
  • Virginia Mabbun

    I love gadgets Too!
  • Shelley Hancock

Virginia...Thanks so much, your new toy will ship out this morning. I'm adding in a "Try Me" size of my Real Transformation Serum. Hope you enjoy it!
  • Shelley Hancock

I've found a gal here in the States that has been making a compact, nice looking microcurrent machine for many years. It has the double probe wands. The price is in the $7000 range, which I think is high, but that includes her coming to your Center (wherever you are!) to do a two day training. The first day is just you and her (and your staff). The second day, you invite clients and you work on them together (kind of like my Jump Start Day). One of the main things I hear from a lot of Esty's is that they haven't received proper training with their microcurrent purchases.

I just wanted to hear some opinions on whether you would spend $7000 if it included fabulous training. I'm still in the beginning stages of speaking with this woman but I do always like to support the small businesses...especially women! Please let me know what you think...thanks!
  • Theresa

    Hi Shelley,

I purchased and received the spatula and love it. I had been using a table top skin scrubber and the only way for it to work was to place a static band on my client.  The hand held is by far the best and easy to use. I no longer have to use a static band nor do I have to explain to my clients why I have to use the band. Thanks for making my work day easier.

  • Shelley Hancock

Hi Everyone......Well, last week I connected with a company that sells an oxygen infusion machine for a really great price and I purchased it. In fact, as I'm writing this post I'm sucking up some fresh oxygen to give me some energy to make it through the day!! I will be working closely with this company giving them my feedback on serums/products and future equipment they are developing. I will have a page up on my website about this in the next couple of days and I'm filming a training video this weekend. They have been running an end of Summer special for only $1295...I have sold 12 machines in the past 5 days!! I can take orders at this price up until Friday afternoon. Call me or email me if you are interested!! (650) 286-0311
  • Katie Horsman

I currently use an oxygen concentrator for infusion treatments. I am interested in treatment products that do not clog the airbrush. Any suggestions?
  • Shelley Hancock

So far I have been using Skin Scripts cucumber toner....it's a great smell good experience for the client. I also really really like infusing HydroPeptide's toner...immediate difference. I have a couple of other things coming to check out and also this new company I'm working with is in the process of developing product and I get to be in on the thumbs up or down decisions, which is great fun for me! I'll keep ya'll posted.
  • Shelley Hancock

I've got a new page on my website called "Let's Chat". Have a look when you have a free moment: http://www.shelleyhancock.com/letschat.html
  • felicia medlock blair

Shelly what kind of led light are you using and how do you like it
  • Shelley Hancock

Hi Felicia...I have the Luminox panel, actually I have two of them! Here's the link to the info: http://www.shelleyhancock.com/luminoxledlight.html

  • Shelley Hancock

Hi Guys....I am so excited! I am going to be "the face" of RejuvenAirO2. They are coming out from New York next month to film their training and marketing videos with me. WhooHoo!

The gal that made my Real Transformation Serum has formulated a product for me specifically for the oxygen machine. The ingredient list is impressive! Watch for more info about that soon.

Two of the companies I work with have new machines coming out the first of the year. I will be introducing them at an event at my Center in December. Watch for details about that also!

    Have an awesome day.....Shelley

  • Angela DeNorscia

how much should I charge for an ultrasonic exfoliation treatment?(Ultra Sonic Spatula) Should I make it an upgrade? or by it's self treatment? I am from the east coast (Cape Cod Ma) although it has a great amount of tourism in the summer and early Autumn months (business is higher) BUT I do REALLY rely on my yearly clients too! With the economy the way it is I don't want my clients turned off buy more $. I come from a small town and what I am known for is being small (One on one service) very reasonable price wise (facials $65, Brow Wax $12, Brazilian $55 etc. ) and Glo therapeutics products (WONDERFUL PRODUCT LINE). I know I'm worth more but I don't dare raise prices. So I want to start helping myself and business and buy and use ultrasonic spatual machine. Please help with Ideas and do any of you think the machine is awesome? Thanks Angie
  • Shelley Hancock

    Hi Angela,

I don't charge extra for using the ultrasonic spatula in my treatments. I just consider it a tool that helps make my end results that much better. Now, if you are using this as your main tool (equipment) for your treatment, then you will want to charge extra for the "ultrasonic" experience and/or offer an "ultrasonic facial" at a higher price than your regular facial. I think the ultrasonic spatula is a must have tool for all of us! It's inexpensive but yet the clients are intrigued by it and it achieves results.

  • Angela DeNorscia

    Hi Shelley,

Thank you for your response, very helpful! I just order from your website the ultrasonic spatula! So I guess I need to work on coming up with a "ultrasonic facial" at my shop. Any helpful key choice of words you might suggest, to get the clients interested? lol, sorry a little timid...with the new up in coming changes already. How much $ would you say I could get with the ultrasonic facial? My european facial is now $65. Maybe $85? If the results are instance, and only get better with more treatments? $20 extra seems fair? right? lol. Can't wait till it comes in the mail! When it arives if I have any questions about it, I will call or email you. It's fine for all skin types correct? Thanks again! I will be in touch. Angela

  • Shelley Hancock

Angela, just like with all of the treatments we offer our clients, they look great right after their facial but lasting results happen with multiple treatments. It's always best to chat with them about this ahead of time. I think $85 sounds like a fair price for you to ask.

Type ultrasonic facial into Google and see how other spas are talking about this treatment. Take little pieces from different menus that register with you and put them together to make your own.

Thank you so much for your order and yes, please do call when you receive your spatula...it will ship out today!

  • Angela DeNorscia

    Hello there,

Dose anyone here have an oxygen facial machine? intraceuticals oxygen machine and products seems pretty impressive (according to the movie stars, lol) Is it the best oxygen facial machine on the market? Or is it the apple mac of the oxygen machines? Dose anyone know the exact price of one of these machines by the way? How does the RejuvenAirO2 machine compare to the intraceuticals machine? Thank you Angie

  • Shelley Hancock

I own both machines Angela. Please contact me directly if you'd like more info. Would love to hear from anyone else on this subject.

  • Angela DeNorscia
