Christine....I've got a message into my developer to make sure I answer your question correctly. Ya'll know that I'm not Miss Ingredient expert. I'm almost positive that it is water based but want to make sure! I'll get back to you soon.

  • Shelley Hancock

I've been playing around with a new LED face mask and I am now taking orders. http://www.shelleyhancock.com/ledlighttherapy.html

I had a demo on July 3rd with a machine called The Pulse. It uses electroporation. I am playing with it now for a few days to see what I think, but so far, I'm really liking it! I'll be writing more next week.

Was just told last week that the builing that my Center is in has been sold and when my lease is up at the end of December I need to move! I feel like I just got settled into my Center. :(   So, I'm going to find a small office to set up the Esty that works for me and then my husband and I are headed to Southern California to live and open up another training center. I love adventures and this is a big one!!

  • Heather Capitanich

Good luck on your new adventure-I know you will be successful at any location you choose.  There is such a need for quality training in our industry and you fill that need!  I may just have to come and visit you from time to time in Southern CA.

  • Christy McKeel

Good Luck Shelley I hope you find the perfect place!

  • Shelley Hancock

We found our new skincare center! We have a few months before we have to move but I feel good that we know where we're moving to. I'm going to put together one last big event before we move out of this beautiful big training center. Watch for details about that soon!

I'm sending out an email to my skincare clients about an "End of Summer Intensive Skin Repair" treatments for those that were unkind to their skin over the Summer. It will be 30 minute treatmetns twice a week for three weeks. The first treatment of the week, I will exfoliate using Dermafiles or Dermasweep and enzymes or peels. Then the second ay I will hydrate using RejuvenAirO2 and Electropulsation. I figure if I keep the treatments at 30 minutes, they'll be able to fit that in to their schedule. I haven't decided on a price yet. I'll keep you posted on that. This is something that any of you can do using whatever tools and products you have in your bag of toys. I'll post more once I get the ball rolling.

One of my long time clients is in the hospital (she's 80). I offered to stop by and wax her lip and chin. I went yesterday and it felt so good to put a smile on her face! How much did I charge her? Not a darn penny! These are the type of things we do for clients that have supported us for many years. She has been a big part of my bread and butter for 24 years now. Also, it does my heart good to help someone out that's not feeling so good.

  • Sheila Gordon

That's so great Shelley!  To me, that's what it's all about...helping people.  I had a client come in friday..29..suffers severe acne (well in her eyes) for 15 years.  Put her on a skin scripts kit, but 4 days later she had a bad breakout and I had her come in for high frequency and LED with a hydrating mask, gave her some samples, and didn't charge her.  i am determined to help her...she said the next day her skin looked 10 times better!!!  Made my whole weekend!!!  I love that we are in a profession where we can help others out either physically or emotionally or both really!  Such a great feeling!!!  You are truly an inspiration for young Estheticians like myself!!

  • Vanessa Barrientez

Amen & Amen.  Sometimes it is not about money.  However, I do need some money to get started!

  • Sheila Gordon

Have you by chance tried that new LED mask that you received with the blue and red light?  Are those Dr Lumen's by chance?  I have been doing some research because I am looking for a new LED (easier to use) for my treatment room.  There are a few LED mfg that I was going to check out at IECSC in Nov but wanted to get your trusted feed back.  Thanks Shelley!

  • Shelley Hancock

Sheila....I played around with it on myself before deciding to put it on my website. It does not replace the effectiveness of a LED panel but for the investment it is pretty effective...does that make sense? You are not going to see the dramatic results like on the before and after pictures on my website using my panel. But the mask does work. I've received feedback from one Esty's that purchased the mask from me and she's very happy!

I am working with the same company on a panel that is quality without the big expense. The panel I have now costs $7000...it's awesome, but that's a lot of $$. I have looked at quite a few panels and chose not to go with them because I felt that the quality wasn't worth the investment.

If you find something that catches your eye, please feel free to run it past me if you'd like and I'll give you my two cents!

  • Sheila Gordon

    Great Shelley, thank you!

  • Shelley Hancock

I've realized that the more positive I am.....more good stuff comes to me to be positive about. So, whenever I get in a funky mood or something happens to take me out of that positive frame of mind...boy, I do whatever I can do to get back to positive as fast as I can because the opposite is also true. The more negative you are....the more bad stuff comes to you to be negative about. Remember that song from years ago "Don't Worry, be Happy Now"? That's what I'm talkin' about!

  • Shelley Hancock

I'm sitting in the Colorado airport right now waiting ro head back home after a fabulous workshop here! Love Colorado estys! We had a great time.

Our next big event is the San Jose Face and Body Show in just a couple of weeks. This will be the first year I have my own booth (#447) so please stop by if you attend.

  • Megan

Hi Shelley - what do you think about the salt peel vs microdermabrasion?

    Megan

  • Shelley Hancock

Hi Megan...I have never experienced the salt peel so I can't really put my two cents in on that subject! Sorry!

  • Shelley Hancock

We're all ready for the Face and Body Show today! Set up was interesting. This was the first time really seeing what goes on behind the scenes before the grand finale of the doors opening to the masses. I've never seen so many stressed out and cranky people on one area. We actually brought all of our big stuff on Friday and it was smoooooth sailing. Saturday when we went back it was mass confusion! We just did our thing and didn't let that energy take us over and got out as quick as possible. I'm super excited for today. Make sure to stop by booth 447 if you are attending! Happy Sunday everyone!

  • Shelley Hancock

It's been almost two weeks since the Face and Body and I'm just now coming up for air! Holy Shmoly....it kicked my butt! We had great fun though and met some incredible Estys.

My next event is the "Empowering Estheticians" workshop at my Center in Foster City on Nov. 4th or 5th. Lori Crete is coming up from Southern California to team up with me. We'll be sharing business ideas using our many years of experience. It's gonna be fabulous and powerful...please join us! Info on my website.

New Product!! I ask my product gal to develop something to use with my electroporation machine for a neck treatment and when I used it on my first client, I knew it was not just a neck product...I ended up using over her whole face and WOW! It's an oil-free gel with peptides and DMAE. Use it with an ultrasonic spatula, as a microcurrent conducitve gel or even as a massage medium. I've got a "try me" size available now. The full size bottle will be ready in a couple of weeks. If you get the "try me" size, please let me know what you think!

We named it Real PerformanceGel because it really performs!!

  • Shelley Hancock

Something very interesting.....for those of you that have the Radiancy FSD, I did something different last night. I have always taught ya'll to do a peel after the FSD (because the skin is open and ready to receive) but last night I did the FSD and then Skin Scripts Lactic Acid Peel for about 5 minutes. Then I massaged in my new Real PeformanceGel with DMAE and Matrixyl 3000 and placed my red LED mask on for 15 minutes.  If ya don't mind me saying so...I look fabulous this morning! :-) I'm going to test this on a few of my clients this week. Happy Monday!

  • Diane Magos

Hello Shelley! I am planning to see you when you come to Georgia on Jan 27 2013. I just wanted to know if Lori Crete was going to be with you there also? I would love to meet you both!

  • Shelley Hancock

Looks like Atlanta will be postponed until February. I'll keep you updated! I'll do my best to talk Lori into being there!

  • Diane Magos

Oh yes please keep me updated on Atlanta! I am very excited and sure do not want to miss seeing you in this area. I live in NC, but I will drive to Atlanta if you come!

  • Shelley Hancock

This is really cool...Dermascope called me last week and ask me to write the Janary "10 Things to Know About" article!! I feel very honored and it was great fun writing it. You'll see a short article in the January Skin Deep also.

    WhooHooo...Life is too fun!!!

  • Brenda Griffin

Congratulations Shelley.  Can't wait to read it.

  • Shelley Hancock

Lisa from Skin Scripts will be in my neck fo the woods (Foster City in Northern California) on Sunday January 27th giving a free workshop! I'll be there showing some of my toys!! Email me if you'd like to attend. Seating is limited so register now!

  • Shelley Hancock

Just scheduled a "Shelley's Show & Tell" in Nothern California for Feb. 17th. Details about all workshops on my website at: http://www.shelleyhancock.com/seminarstraining.html

I'm planning on teaming up with Lisa from Skin Scripts at her Center in Arizona in April....watch for details.

  • Shelley Hancock

A long time elderly client of mine is house bound because of a fall. I went to her home a couple of days ago to give her a pick me up. I only took my trusty dusty ultrasonic spatula! She sat in her kitchen chair, i cleansed and put on an enzyme...we chatted for a few minutes and i took the enzyme off with the spatula. Then I applied my Real PerfromanceGel (with DMAE and Matrixyl 3000) and penetrated it in with the spatula...we chatted for a few more minutes, then I did a hot towel wrap and moisturized. She felt sooooo much better and guess what? I felt so much better for having helped her!!

  • Shelley Hancock

I tried this on myself first and it turned out so great that I've now done a couple of clients this way. I used the Radiancy FSD, then did Skin Script TCA (just one layer) and then went under the red LED panel for 15 minutes. Then.....I applied my RealPerformanceGel (with DMAE & Matrixyl 3000) and used the electroporation machine to penetrate it in. I'm tellin' ya...it looked fabulous! I typically don't do much of anything after a TCA but this really worked!

  • Cindy Greenwood

Shelley - oh, I wish I would have seen your Jan 19th post earlier!

I had a client in yesterday...I did a Radiancy FSD then a layer of the Skin Script TCA peel.  I just topped with serums - but extra penetration would have been fabulous.

I so need an LED panel...and now that I wish I would have taken the extra time to at least use my handheld led ( I use it on myself mostly just because it takes soooo much time)

    You are awsome and inspiring!

  • Shelley Hancock

Cindy...thanks for the kind words!! Much appreciated! You may want to think about my LED mask. I'm getting great feedback from the Estys who have it. I'm loving it for myself at home in the evening! You'd think with all of the toys we have in our treatment rooms we'd be working on our own faces....I don't know about you, but at the end of the day, I just wanna go home! So, I sit there at night with the mask on looking super sexy for my husband! :-)

Here's a silly video we made with it. Scroll to the bottom of this page:

  • Nicole

I bought the LED mask at the beginning of the year and I love it!  It is so easy to add it to a service that I've been using it with most of my peels.  I haven't used it with a facial yet and I'm debating whether to do it before or after the massage- I really like the idea of ending with the massage.

I also bought the ultrasonic spatula (so much easier than my old one with the cords) and I've been using it on most clients to remove my enzymes.  I'm wondering if I could use it to remove the cleanser prior to doing an peel?  Would this provide a deeper peel?  Are there some peels I should not use it with?

  • Shelley Hancock

Nicole...this is music to my ears! You cetainly could add the LED mask to  the middle of your facial and then do the massage at the end like you prefer. I'll tell you something that is working incredible with the LED...my Real PerformanceGel with DMAE and Matrixyl 3000. A thin layer before you place the mask on your client.  I actually have a few clients on it for home use on a daily basis and they love it!

Definitely use your spatula to remove the cleanser prior to a peel. Yes, you could remove a deeper peel with this...if you are using a solution and/or water to remove the peel, just take it off the skin with your spatula and then rinse well afterwards.

  • Angela Brill

Great ideas.  I just ordered the ultrasonic spatula but I will have to save up my money next for the LED.  I have been charging too many items.

    Thanks shelley!

  • Shelley Hancock

I had a "Shelley's Show & Tell" workshop yesterday in Danville California and we had an incredible day. It was an intimate group of 12 and I have to say, I think I like the small groups rather than big. It seemed like everyone felt comfortbale speak up and ask questions because there weren't so many people. We played like crazy!! I had so much fun with everyone!

  • Melissa Bradley

Shelley...I gave myself a peel...PCA blended jessner with HQ about 10 days ago, Valentines night to be exact (husband was out of town, nothing else to do so why not do a chemical peel right?) how long should I wait to do an FSD treatment on myself? Is it safe to do one tomorrow (Sunday)? I had light flaking with the peel that's it, no "peeling". I had done 4 layers and a retinoid booster and I'm done flaking......thanks
  • Shelley Hancock

Melissa...sounds like you're ready for the FSD...go for it! Next time try doing the FSD first and then your peel right afterwards. Start with only one or two layers the first time and work your way up. The FSD opens the skin up so anything you put on after penetrates fast and deep.

  • Kristy Floyd

The Celluma looks incredible!  How many LED lights does it have?

  • Shelley Hancock

325 LEDs. Three programs...anti-aging, acne and pain relief.  It's incredible. I just layed under it for 30 minutes and it's hypnotic feeling...very relaxing.

  • Kristy Floyd

Thanks so much!  I sent you an email too about this and couple other things.  Hope to hear from you soon :)

  • Lizabeth Kristiansen

Shelley... I didn't see a high frequency machine on your site, do you sell any or recommend any brand?

  • Shelley Hancock

I stopped using high requency a few years back...I use the ClearTouch Lite to zap zits!! I wouldn't spend more than $100 on a portable one. I know years ago I got a good portable one at a Show for $55...can't remember what company it was though....sorry!

  • Lizabeth Kristiansen

So you would say price isn't in indicator of value when it comes to this type of machine.?

  • Shelley Hancock

I've always said that you want to be careful purchasing cheap LED machines. We have actually taken machiens apart and found regular light bulbs with blue cellophane over the bulb!!

This company is using quality LED's but wanted to keep their unit affordable which is awesome for us!! We are going to be able to get good results with fewer LED's than a full face panel because of the close proximity to the face.

  • Shelley Hancock

You can now purchase the Celluma Panel through Paypal with 6 months to pay! WooHoo!!! It's $1295 and I'm running a special offer: FREE shipping and two FREE products.

  • Nicole

I purchased your LED mask in December, how do you think it compares to the Celluma as far as results? Is the Celluma rechargeable?
  • Shelley Hancock

The Celluma is more powerful than the mask...but the mask is still fabulous for the investment. The Celluma has to be plugged in. Some Esty's that purchased the mask and now want to get the Celluma are using the mask as a rental for home use when a client has an issue that needs extra help. You charge them to use it in between their treatments with you.

  • Natalie

I can't wait to get the Celluma! And may need to get the mask to rent out- hmmm
    - Or just have them come in for more Celluma treatments? Do you have the sign a contract to "rent" mask?
  • Shelley Hancock

I would defintiely make up a short contract to rent the mask stating they would be responsible if something happens to it.  Just in case the dog gets a hold of it or something like that! :-)
