Violetta...great to hear from another Esty confirming how I feel about this companies machines! I sold my first one yesterday to an Esty in Minnesota. She's super excited!

  • Shelley Hancock

Going to Vegas with all my toys!! Who do I get to meet in person?! My booth is 2307...we've got a big double booth. I'm bringing two treatment tables so we can really play!!

  • Amy Sherman

Now, In the right place, Shelley! Can you explain why LED should not be used on people with Thyroid disorder?

  • Shelley Hancock

Well, what I first learned about this years ago was that LED could in fact effect someone who has a thyroid issue. I was never told exactly how it does that, only that if they are hypo it could change to hyper and visa versa.

I've had conversation lately with the Celluma experts and they informed me that some physicians are now using LED to help thyroid problems. Hmmm.....

Where does that leave us? I always go back to "better safe than sorry". I would cover the area if your client  is under supervision for this issue. I will pick the celluma bigwigs brain a lttle more. They really know their stuff. I'll get back to you with more info!

  • Willie Acklin

Hi Shelley, I am very gentle with my Celluma but it is starting to literally come apart at the seams. Is there an adhesive that I could use to re-seal it? Perhaps e-6000 adhesive? Thanks

  • Nicole

Shelley- what would you use to cover the area- would a towel be enough?

  • Shelley Hancock

I would use a thicker dark towel just to certain.

Willie...I send you an email on what to do about that!

  • yardley

Hi Shelley, would you recommend using led after chemical peel(self neutralizing or not)? If so, is there a color we need to avoid as well? Thank you!
  • Amy Sherman

I called my thyroid specialist today to ask. She laughed at me! She said that there has not been one study done to say it's not okay. She DID say that certain thyroid medications can make you photosensitive. But this is true for "natural" skincare too. Certain essential oils are EXTREMELY photosensitive! Fyi. I have found no articles or research yet!

  • Katrina Kulm

Amy, not to go off subject of LED but can I ask which certain essential oils can be extremely photosensitive for a thyroid condition? I do use a blend of essential oils on clients at times so I'd like to be aware, thanks.

  • Shelley Hancock

Johanna.....I've done LED after all of skin script peels and achieved great results. I' ve done up to five layers of their TCA and then 15 minutes LED....Beautiful!! I can't vouch for other companies peels though. Maybe start with just five minutes of LED at first, check your client to make sure all is well and then add more time. Some may say that the LED will effect the results in a contraindicated way...I can only tell you that I've achieved some pretty amazing results doing it.

  • Shelley Hancock

Amy....good stuff! Thanks for calling your Physician and filling us all in on that info. We really appreciate it!

  • Amy Sherman

Katrina- all citrus and pine oils are violently phototoxic and can cause large watery blisters. This is true on all people. People with photo toxic medications should avoid them altogether. Synthroid, a thyroid medication is one of them, particularly in Fitzpatrick types 1 and2. Lower doses .25 mcg to .50 mcg tends to be ok. However, if they're like me, on 300 mcg I have to be doubly careful. I do use LED and I get great results and I do believe it has helped me a lot both with skin and thyroid stuff. But if it is contra indicated for your machine, then I would start with low times and cover the thyroid gland d itself.

I'm testing a new toy you guys!!! Ya'll know that I'm not a huge microcurrent fan, so I can't believe I'm actually checking this out but.....I came across a portable unit made here in Southern California. It comes with gloves, but you can add on prongs and/or pads. The base unit is smaller than a cell phone! I did half my face yesterday with the gloves and I could definitely feel and see a difference in the tone all day and also this morning. I'm going to do a second half face treatment today. If this turns out to be effective, this will be great for those estys that are traveling or would like to add microcurrent but not break the piggy bank! The price point is incredible at $595. The developer chose to purchase the gloves here in the United States because the quality was much better than less expensive ones he found from overseas. I'll keep you posted as I continue to play!!

I'm also looking into a new LED unit now that I am no longer connected to celluma. No grass grows under my feet!!

  • Ally Draizin

I just bought that exact microcurrent machine last week, Shelley! It arrived yesterday. Let's compare notes!

  • Ally Draizin

What happened with Celluma, by the way?

  • Casandra Ocampo

Yes, what happen with Celluma, I was considering to buy it.

  • Shelley Hancock

I would love to shout it from the moutain top because I am so disappointed in them but I feel like right now I need to keep the particulars out of the forums. If you are really curious, you can contact me directly and I'll share.

Have a Scrubber hand held (new ,have big one ) - $75 - Heated Booties $20 - Hand Held LED with pin point Laser and mushroom Head $450 (was $1900 new used 5 times and bought Umbrella :)- Lymph drainage for legs cuffs - $75 - Skin Scope new $125(to be used with Laptop and has video) I am doing some serious house cleaning :) Oh by the way I also have a micro-current (not the cloves they will affect the heart rhythmia of the care giver - I know have tried it - used it about 5 times in one day and had serious heart problems, be careful current goes through your own body into those cloves then to the client, god for the client not good for you.) I also have a Radio Frequency small for table - sells for $ 1800 -new (I have two because I thought I would use one in another location never did.:(  I CAN SEND PICTURE OF THE ITEMS THAT YOU ARE INTERESTED IN. Also able to get other things for great prices from people who have gone out of business, considering making a site for it - what do you think? Would be a great way to get equipment for great prices,Hmm!

  • Shelley Hancock

Here's the page on my website where I post equipment for Estys and the directions for having me post. http://www.shelleyhancock.com/equipmentdeals.html

You'll get more exposure there than posting your things on this group.

  • Vanessa Barrientez

Hi, Shelley,  you say you are not a fan of microcurrent.  Why and what do you use instead?

Also, on your payment plans, is there a minimum amount?  I'm looking at a few pieces of equipment.  I have the big, corded Spatula, and I really do not like it.  So I'm considering getting the smaller one.  Maybe I can sell the big one on our site.

  • Shelley Hancock

Well...I've had the big expensive microcurent ($10,000) and a less expensive one ($7500) and I just felt like it was a lot of work on our bodies for the end results. I feel like I get better long term tightening from my Radiancy FSD. You don't see immediate tightening but when it kicks in, it's much stronger. So, I use the Time Master for a few minutes after the FSD to get that immediate tightening. I'm testing a cool microcurrent machine right now using gloves and it's only $595. I think it's going to get my thumbs up....I'll keep you posted on that!

You can do a payment plan through PayPal on my website for any of the equipment. It's 6 months no interest! Vanessa, I'd be more than happy to post your equipment on my "equipment deals" page. Just email me one picture and how much you want for it. contactme@shelleyhancock.com

  • Cindy Greenwood

I watched a training webinar on microcurrent, and there are certainly gains in product penetration based on scientific studies. The muscle/skin tightening effects have a lot to do not only with the unit but the techniques the practitioner is using...so opinions are pretty subjective I think. Many years ago I worked for a spa that had a Myotonology...don't know the exact pricing but I believe around $8k...def saw lifting results around eyes and jawline.  But yes there is a lot of time involved in doing the treatments for both esty and client. I have a Silhoute-tone MC that I never use at all b/c of the protocol and minimal results- I know others that have it that love it. I think it's just me :D  but I will probably dust it off to give it another shot at some point. Shelley - you had mentioned a MC training Kit awhile back too, right?

  • Shelley Hancock

Cindy, I think you're spot on when saying that it's technician skills and most of these companies don't really give great training. There's a gal, Barbara Berger, that sells microcurrent training (to be used with any microcurrent machine). You can read about it toward the bottom of this page: http://www.shelleyhancock.com/specialtytoolsproducts.html

Some Estys are reporting that they feel like the electroporation is doing a better job of product penetration than microcurrent. I have to concur (I feel like I'm an actress saying "Doctor, I concur")!!

  • Vanessa Barrientez

Ok, Shelley.  I have the dermafiles, spatula (big one which I do not like), the LED/Microcurrent machine that's on your website where you sell training for.  I'm small and on a very tight budget.  What equipments would you recommend for lifting, anti-aging, etc.?  And most of my clientele will be African American.

  • Shelley Hancock

    Hi Vanessa,

Hands down I would recommend the Electroporation Time Master!! It won't break the bank, the clients LOVE the sensation and it tones and tightens. Here's the info: http://www.shelleyhancock.com/electroporation.html

  • Vanessa Barrientez

Thanks so much, Shelley, I will takes look at it
  • Vanessa Barrientez

    Take
  • Shelley Hancock

Happy Sunday everyone!! I woke up feeling a lot of gratitude for my life and everyone in it, so I just wanted to thank you all for being a member of my group. I have 13 Estys coming to my home today to play. We're going to go over some marketing ideas, I'm going to share some new treatment ideas I have up my sleeve and we'll play with equipment. I always thoroughly enjoy these get togethers!

I heard this statment during a webinar I was watching this week: "The road to success is always under construction" It really resonated. I think sometimes we get frustrated and give up, when the success we've been wanting could be around the next corner.  Keep this in mind the next time you feel ready to throw in the towel. Enjoy your day!

  • Shelley Hancock

I had a workshop at my home this Sunday.....it was awesome! There's something about a small group of Estys getting together in a comfortable setting that let's everyone feel comfortable opening up. We spent the first two hours just chatting about marketing and business. I had some lunch delivered and then we got into toy talk. It was such a wonderful day! I wish there was a way to be in living rooms all over the United States becuase I really think everyone benefited from this venue.

  • Ally Draizin

I was just cruising your website. Now I need to save up for this microderm infusion machine! Do you ever come up to Portland? I would love to test it out. xo!

  • Shelley Hancock

Hey Ally....I need to schedule a workshop up that way!! The microderm infusion is very cool. Will you be going to the vegas show.....I'll have it there.

  • Ally Draizin

You can always have it at my studio! I probably won't be at Vegas. :( Work work work!

  • Shelley Hancock

Thanks Ally....I may take you up on that!! I'm headed to Minnesota on the 27th of this month. I only have 4 seats left in that class! I'm super excited about heading out that way.

  • Shelley Hancock

This is sad and good all at the same time! The last email I sent out to you estys had the subject line "breaking up hurts". I got my biggest open rate ever (over 50%). The subject was really about me not selling celluma anymore but I bet many of you thought I was getting a divorce.

Yesterday I sent out an email to my facial clients with the subject line "we're so sad" and in just 24 hours I've gotten the highest open rate ever for my facial clients. When they opened the email it stated. "we're so sad that we haven't seen some of you in quite awhile" then I offered a special to get them back in.

Human nature is interesting. We're drawn to the dramatics.

So try using a dramatic subject line and see your open rate climb!

  • Christine Byer Esthetics

I've noticed this too. What do they say (sadly) in the News industry, "If it bleeds, it leads. "
  • Cindy Greenwood

oh that is so funny...I should try that!

  • Aisha Massac

This is an awesome tip!  Thanks!

  • Gayla Davis

Oh my, I did a "normal" post 4 hrs. ago and then a few minutes ago I did one that started with "Don't call Serenity Spa"....  I have received almost the same amount of views on the "Don't call" as the one I did hours ago.  Lol

  • Shelley Hancock

Getting ready for my Show & Tell here in Minnesota. It's cold and raining here. I'm so spoiled with California weather. Walked the Great Mall yesterday. Wow, we definitely got our workout. Got lost trying to find the car! Looking forward to meeting the Minnesota Estys in a few hours.

We've decided to do a workshop in New York area. Watch my website for details on a date!!

  • Ally Draizin

Hi Shelley! Are you coming out with an instructional video for the Pico Toner soon? Can't wait! xoxo!

  • Susan Paladino

Hi Shelly I am in NY (Long Island).  Where will you be going in NY?  I would love to attend a workshop!!

  • Shelley Hancock

Ally....yes, I am planning on making a Pico Toner video very soon.

Susan....not sure yet where in NY yet but I'll be sure to post it here.

Another Light company called me today. That's the forth company that ahs contacted me since the word got out I was looking for something new. This is wild to have them seek me out! I politely turned two down because they didn't have what I was looking for. This newest one is coming to see me tomorrow and show me their unit! I'll keep you posted.

  • Shelley Hancock

I had a three hour meeting with a Light company yesterday. Yep, I did not say LED....this is a totally different light source and it's supposed to be more effective in less time. From what I'm understanding it's wide spread in Europe and is just now coming over to the States. This company left a machine with me to start testing and getting some before and after pics. I will explain more about it soon. I want to see it in action first though. But I have to say....I am super excited!!

  • Jamie Carson Ortiz

Yeah!!!!! I am so excited you will be trying a NEW LIGHT!! Can't wait to hear what you think. :-)
  • Shelley Hancock

Jamie...shame on you for not telling me about these guys sooner! :-)

Ya'll, Jamie is the one who introduced me to this wonderful company and technology. She has been using it for quite a few years now. The company brought one of Jamies clients with them yesterday. This woman is 70 and looked absolutely fabulous!!! She said she swears by these treatments.

  • Tara Borders Dollar

    Can't wait to hear more!!
  • Shelley Hancock

Just drove to Camarillo California for a "Shelley's Show & Tell" workshop tomorrow at Aesthetics International. I'm looking forward to meeting some new Estys and showing off my toys!

New info up on my website about green light therapy....you will be surprised when you read this! http://shelleyhancock.com/ledlight.html Read my post dated 5/18/2014 and click over to the info. It's a pretty dry read but try to get through it. I have underlined a couple of sentences I really want you to take in. Let me know what you think!

  • Brooke Mouzakis

Shelley, thanks for all you do for us! So are you planning to hold a training in the Pacific Northwest anytime soon?!? Would LOVE to have you this way!
  • Shelley Hancock

Hi Brooke....exactly where are you located? I'm working on my wish list of cities to visit. I am video taping my whole workshop on June 8th so it will be available for everyone to see. Although it is much more fun to be there in person with the energy of all the fabulous Estys in the room!
