Okay, it's a few months before New Year's Resolution time, but what are your hopes/dreams/goals for next year? We'd like to run some of your answers in an upcoming issue of ASCP Skin Deep magazine. Is there anything you're specifically working toward doing in 2013, maybe taking a class or looking for a new job or maybe there's a particular machine or service you want to add to your practice?

Or..... just a personal life goal that relates to how you want to do business next year? What are your thoughts about the future as we get into the last quarter of 2012? :)

As a newly licensed Esthetician and as someone who is looking to pretty much "start over" in life, I would say my goal is to get myself out there: get clients, new friends, new support group, and a new attitude toward life.

Cool goal, good luck to you! I know exactly what that is like. I have started over several times (moving to a new country/divorce/health situations) and it can be tough. But it's always worth it!

I'm working on obtaining an Expert Status certification in my skin care line (Dermalogica) at IDI (International Dermal Institute).  My goal is to obtain that, and continue my education into more advanced esthetics.

In 2013, I would love to teach more spa marketing classes using my Fuhgeddaboudit Consulting Kit and help other spa owners generate new clients and more sales using little to no money just like I do.

I have started a small solo practice 3 years ago after unforseen circumstances occurred.  I use a room in a hair salon, and I have been slowly building it 'brick by brick'.  Each year I have written down and accomplished a couple of goals.  It has been quite challenging at times, to the point of feeling discouraged, but giving up is not an option!  If I had the opportunity to build someone else's practice successfully, then I should be able to do it for myself as well.  Next year,  I would like to be able to operate out of my own space, allowing me the room I need to accommodate my machines, bed, tables and skin care products.  I just purchased an Oxygen Facial Unit and have been getting wonderful responses.  I also have my eye on obtaining a Micro-current machine so I can master this and work the magic it has to offer.  But that may have to wait until next year!  I would be humbled to regain the rest of the clientele with whom I had the pleasure of providing service to before I was 'set loose'.  I am grateful for my former clients who have found me in the interim and for the new clients that trust me with their skin care and laser hair removal needs!

Caroline ~ Where Secrets are Kept!

Caroline's Essential Laser & Skin Care, LLC.

I have been licensed in this industry for just over 10 years now.  I love what I do, teaching my clients how to take better care of their skin. I currently own a small Day Spa in my very small town and love all they gals and one man I work with they are an amazing group and I am very fortunate.  My goals are to continue my education and to always provide my clients with the best possible treatments for their money.  I love to meet/network with fellow professionals that wish to improve our industry with professionalism.  Best of luck to all you "newly Licensed" Estheticians.  Most of all I encourage all to attend at least one State Board Meeting in your state.  Its amazing what you can learn.

Well I am due to have my first baby in November, so being a great mom is my #1 goal!

After some time off, I am looking to branch out some more in my town, and connect with

other local businesses, and possibly try an online local deal to attract new clients..

Ive recently relocated to my home state, and out of Atlanta. My goal is to stay focused, use me knowing alot of people to my advantage, and build a bigger clientale

My goal for next year is to travel around the Country giving "Shelley's Show & Tell" workshops, sharing my 25 years of business success with my fellow estys. I believe I'll be in Atlanta GA. in January. I love meeting everyone and spending the day playing! I also plan on moving from Northern California to Southern California and opening up a second trainng center. Wow, big plans....I better get working on it!

Carrie,

Thank you for bringing up this subject!! Planning is key to a successful business!!!  I am a sole practitioner and have been blessed to be so busy and often don't find the time to do what's on my "to do" list.

MY goals for next year include continuing my education by adding Lymphatic Drainage Massage and/or Oncology esthetics.   The only way to survive and thrive in this business is by giving your clients what they need and seek and also providing services that go beyond the typical facial or waxing services.

My plan for success includes setting up my marketing for next year, NOW!! Which means coming up with monthly ideas that will be sent as email campaigns, being consistant with a monthly newsletter and a blog.

On a personal level, I plan to continue working on making by body and soul healthier and happier.  I would have to say that this year my biggest personal accomplishment has been taking time out for me.  Which translates into exercising, eating right and meditation.

I love all these replies - and seeing how many people are actively working on their goals!
