Eyelash Extensions - Help Please

I am new in applying eyelash extensions, I have done a few but I am having some challenges with the glue and hope to get someone's expertise and opinion on what I should do.

I use 3D eyelashes and A2 adhesive. I noticed that the adhesive is somewhat pasty and thick which makes the eyelashes look too smudgy and sometimes stick together.  is the adhesive supposed to be this thick and pasty? what consistency should the adhesive have?

Best glue ever is Pro bond from Lavish Lashes. They have excellent training too. Check out their website for a demo. Love doing lashes.

I use Novalash. Platinum Bond adhesive, which in my opinion is the best and it is free of formaldehyde.  It sounds like your glue may be old, also if too much air gets into the bottle, it starts to set up or gets gooey.  I average about 3-6 lash clients a day, 6 days a week.

I use Shavasana's Pro Bond.  It sets up in 2 - 3 seconds and is thin.  I agree that perhaps your glue is old.  The glue usually only lasts for 4 months or so.  Also, I'd recommend moving back and forth from eye to eye and doing different sections of the lash so that you cut down on adjacent lashes sticking to each other as this will greatly affect the wear and wearability of the lashes.

Hello Kym i'm taking the novalash class next month. How long did you wait before you started charging clients? And how long does it take you to do a set?

sorry so long to this reply, kathleen...you are probably already performing services by now. the first appointment I always schedule 11/2 hours.  That includes first time instructions.  After that 45 min appts.  I have clients that come in 2,3,4 week intervals.  I adjust the price depending on the amount of weeks between fills.

visiting this topic again with a question.

I have been working in a salon where they use "magic eyelashes", but my question is:

Is it normal for clients to experience burning sensation when applying either temporary lashes or individual lashes? I've tried many types of adhesives, some clients don't feel any stinging or burning sensations and others do.

what have been your experiences and what do you recommend for a good adhesive?

with the novalash glue there is a slight burning...I always tell my clients kind of like when you are cutting an onion.  it is temporary, like5 min.  Have you taken any classes?  They usually explain in the classes.  It is because we are working so close to the eye.  A little fan is always recommended then you should not have the issue.  Every one is different, some peoples eyes are just more sensitive than others.  Usually lighter eyed client and contact wearers are sensitive as well.

It sounds like your glue is past it's prime. Glue usually lasts about 2 months once opened but climate can effect it. My advice is to not put it in the refrigerator as that can change the consistency and not in a good way. I was so frustrated with adhesives that I spent two years developing my own. The one thing I hated was not being able to wash the lashes right away and having the lashes not lasting. It was a long haul but I finally perfected it. Hope that helps.

Hi Michelle - curious about your glue... tell me more.  I'm using glue made by JB and have found their Pro Bond to be the best that I've used because of it's thin consistency and quick drying time.  Curious about your findings and glue.

Hi Reisa...I started manufacturing my own products, especially my adhesive, because I developed an allergic reaction like many of our clients do over time. What I have found while working with my chemist is that most allergic reactions are developed over time. Exposing our eyes to a foreign substance every few weeks that takes 24-48 hours to cure is the reason they happen, at some point the body starts to reject it. So my adhesive cures within 2 hours and when used with a nano mister it freeze dries it before the client leaves the salon, they can shower, work out, swim immediately. I also have a salon with 3 of us doing lashes 7 days a week so it needed to be a workhorse adhesive, it sets in 1-2 seconds and LAST, it does. I have not had one client get any sort of reaction since using this system and I can now wear extensions with no reactions. Sorry about the long reply but because I could write a novel on what I learned about our industries ingredients and the effect they have on our bodies, my passion is to develop the best but safest ingredients possible.
