Are you sure it's PCOS, or just adult hormonal acne?   Both are of course about hormonal imbalance, but PCOS sometimes requires medical intervention.  Some helpful strategies without a doctor include weight loss if the client has a weight issue, and a balanced diet that watches carbs to control insulin spikes.   As with all acne, products are only part of the solution, and any time hormonal imbalances are an issue, addressing the internal becomes even more important. On-going Vitamin B6 supplementation is very helpful for acne that can be tied to menstrual cycle. I am a big fan of Laura Cooksey's Face Reality program.  I think her products, protocols, and client education materials cover most of the bases.  We FR people have a facebook group with some very informative discussions going on.

Hi Kellie - Laura here from Face Reality.  PCOS is very tricky because of the hormonal problems.  You need a really strong homecare regimen done correctly to have any hope of seeing clear skin.  Most clients coming to see us in our acne clinic have tried "everything" and we get them clear, including adult acne PCOS cases.  If you want to know more about what we do let me know and I'll send you a link.

Laura-or anyone who can please help me. I am in ethetic school and haven't learned enough to clear my own acne!!! I AM DESPRATE! I have used proactive with sucess and come to find out it can prematurly age your skin. (I don't want that but I don't want pustules and hard cystic acne ether) I stoped proactive and used dermalogica for 75 days now. The rep like all reps kept telling me not to give up. I was on day 85 and I threw in the towel. I am now on day 4 of arrbone clear advantage. I use nioxin shampoo. I have not changed anything else. I am in tears. As soon as one part of my face clears another part breaks out. I had beautiful skin on proactive but I have heard I will pay in the end. I used proactive for 2 years. My acne is in my hair line cheeks, chin, forehead and last but not least on dot right inbetween my eyes. I just hold my head down in shame in clinic. I know they are saying...If her face looks like that I don't want her to touch mine. I feel my acne is cystic. its hard pustules painful to the touch and one of them even itches. I will gratefully take any advice.

have you tryed high frequency?

i also have pcos and acne in my face hair:(

i feel you girl high frequency and drying lotion helps me

stress will also cause acne

Yes I do high frequency every day. No luck :( what is drying lotion? I hope it's just stress but im not sure. I have pcos and I was put on metformin but had to come off meds

Thanks yes I will order some! Yes I do mandelic, sal.,TCA ect...  it works great but only a few days later the break outs come back. Also someone said today that Nioxin the shampoo I use may have male hormones or stimulate the androgen hormone that can cause acne. I stopped it three days ago and it might be a little better. Fingers crossed!!! I am going to look at Sanitas now! Thanks for the advice :)

Candace- it makes me sad to hear how discouraged you are!  Please don't feel like you need to be ashamed!  Don't give up:) I just became certified with Face Reality and have started using their products in my practice- it is going really well so far.  You can go to their website- there is a ton of good information on there!  Check all your skin care & cosmetics for pore clogging ingredients also- there is a list on the website.  Good luck!

Thanks I will check Face Reality. I am at my breaking point with my face. It only started about 5 months ago. I had clear skin but no longer. Have you heard anything related to break outs and Nioxin shampoo?
