I worked in a salon that only used hard wax for entire area...Then I have been working on my own....a girl that goes to a master waxer (5-6 min brazillian) said her esty used strip wax for the entire area...no hard wax....and would put first alcohol all over then powder....

I feel like I am bound to rip someones skin off if I did it this way!!!....Ive used Lycon-I found it to be brittle....hard to work with (but my fellow estys who worked at same spa I used to thinks it is the absolute best....

I am using Caron wax....It is super flexible hard (stripless) wax, but for the life of me will NOT get the hair up!!! What is going on!!! HELP! I really want to get this down!! That wax was the "best" wax too!! WTH..........

One girl I did for free...someone who wasn't really close to me..said she was rashed out after...but that might not be my doing....Whenever I use the stripless it seems more painful, and whenever I use soft w strips it seems like I may rip skin off....

ANY ADVICE WOULD BE AWESOME...

It depends on hair growth. I try to get as much as possible with each pull and I definitely hold the skin tight as heck which can be difficult with the oil. I have not bruised anyone yet. Knock on wood. I also don't have any problems with lifting because  of the oil. I usually do two on the pubis mound one on each Side  of the labial folds and the the labia and the two on th  backside. I tell them two weeks of growth. Period. I'd rather trim than tell them to come back. Maybe the hair isn't long enough?

Let me know how it works for you!

what kind of cleansing oil do you use? and what kind of gigi wax? one more question..I do services from home and I am trying to get more wax clients, aside from you being great at waxing how else did you promote to get clients

Thank you

I'm sorry, I think the soft wax is satin smooth's zinc wax.  the white one.  It gets those little baby fine hairs great and is for those "sensitive" areas...haha. I use their oil that is for removing wax afterwards.  I just put a little dab on a cotton ball and wipe down and then take another cotton ball and remove any excess.

As to the other, I'm not sure. I kinda fell into waxing.  The most is to make people feel secure that you're not going to burn their who who off. I spend a lot of time explaining exactly what I am going to do, what to expect from waxing, I talk about the pain.  I definately always put pressure on the spot I've waxed immediately afterwards.  I always check it on my wrist before I wax them.  And then I joke about being all up "in their business".  I think having a sense of humor and asking them a lot of questions gets their mind off of what you're about to do.  I've had people send me flowers as a thank yous and one even bought me a night out as a joke.  I tell funny stories about beauty school etc.  I keep talking that whole first time.  It kind of distracts them.

I also call them the next day, and I give them my cell phone number if they have any questions that they need answered immediately.  I also check in with them several times before the next wax.

The word of mouth just spread and viola. I had a full waxing book within a matter of months and was known around town as the waxing lady.  I also tell them that if I see them in public I won't say hi first but will probably wink at them to avoid anybody asking "how do you know her?" HAHAHAHA!

As for bringing in clients, I'm right along with you since I've been back to work from my 2 year hiatus on maternity leave.  I do all kinds of things!  I give free classes at the library, talk to moms groups, women's church groups, I hold classes at my own church, I have a homemade skin care class that is a hoot and whenever I go out to eat I pass out my card as a tip with a free facial on it.  Those servers know people!!! (but do it along with the tip!)

I also work on a few real estate brokers, I offer 1/2 off facials every October and I always include eyebrow waxing with a facial. I go over and above for EVERY client. I give lots of free samples!

The first time around, It took awhile to get my book full, maybe a year. Now, I'm full and I"ve been doing it again for 3 months.

I also don't sell retail nor do I promote "add-on" services.  People see right through that! I do an eye and lip treatment everytime as well as extractions, hand AND foot massage, and anything else that they need.

I hope this helps.  I have no clue mostly, just making it up as I go along!

Thank you soo much for the response.  I know that will help me greatly!

Great info, thank you. I'm so stealing.

Steal away!!! Let me know how it goes!

I'm not sure about a 5 minute Brazilian, but mine is pretty fast.  I use Deplieve Azulene Cream Rosin (popular in my geographic area because it stands up to the humidity here) and usually finish in 10-12 minutes.  I do small sections and work through them quickly - about 2 square inches per pull to avoid running into different directions of hair growth and breaking hairs.  I NEVER wax over a convex area - I always split that up into two separate flat or concave spots.  This is especially important over the tendon on the inner thigh (very easy to bruise or lift skin there if you try to wax convex).  I pre-cut my strips the long way and the short way so that they are 1.5x6", and I fold them in thirds after a couple pulls as I wax so I effectively get 2 of the 2" strip segments per pre-cut strip.  I also pre-cut my jumbo wood sticks in half so that I can keep moving quickly.  I use small paper cake plates as the receptacle for my waxing trash.  I prep with a light dusting of powder, sweeping most of it off the skin with a towel.  If they want any hair left behind, I have them hold a full-length wooden applicator as a guide while I'm working near that area.  If I am working on the labia and the hair grows straight inward, I do still wax it from inward to outward, but with a slight tilt either upwards or downwards to avoid stressing the skin of the inner labia.

What is a convex area.

Thank you for the very detailed descriptions. You sound very efficient. Love the idea of paper plates. I have a hard time hitting the trash can (and find it impossible with the lid on anyway, which is the law.) Love the idea of having client hold a stick to delineate the area the want kept. That way they are involved in the design too! Great ideas. (btw convex area is a curved area -- keep waxing on the plane (flat area) and don't go over curves.)

I use Satin Smooth Zinc Oxide Wax. I also do most of it with soft but occasionally I have to use hard. I use Cirepil blue wax for that. I like Perrin Rigot wax products. If a client is regular it can take 5-6 minutes to do a Brazilian, depending on the client, hair type, and frequency of appointments. It's not realistic to think that everyone you do should be a 5 minute wax. There's actually pretty few clients that you will be that quick on. Even then, I wonder how sloppy the waxing is. In my experience, speed waxers don't sweat the small stuff. Unfortunately I do.
Love satin smooth!!! :)
