I worked in a salon that only used hard wax for entire area...Then I have been working on my own....a girl that goes to a master waxer (5-6 min brazillian) said her esty used strip wax for the entire area...no hard wax....and would put first alcohol all over then powder....

I feel like I am bound to rip someones skin off if I did it this way!!!....Ive used Lycon-I found it to be brittle....hard to work with (but my fellow estys who worked at same spa I used to thinks it is the absolute best....

I am using Caron wax....It is super flexible hard (stripless) wax, but for the life of me will NOT get the hair up!!! What is going on!!! HELP! I really want to get this down!! That wax was the "best" wax too!! WTH..........

One girl I did for free...someone who wasn't really close to me..said she was rashed out after...but that might not be my doing....Whenever I use the stripless it seems more painful, and whenever I use soft w strips it seems like I may rip skin off....

ANY ADVICE WOULD BE AWESOME...

Hi Denise, Have you used the Gigi Hard Wax?  I have been using it for close to 2 years.  It took me awhile to get the amount of oil right and the temperature of the wax figured out.  If I applied too much oil I didn't remove all the hair and if I had the wrong temp it took forever to harden or become brittle.  Ugh!  I have worked out the kinks and now I love it and it works really well for hair removal.  I still am working on that 5 minute brazilian, but see little hope of me ever achieving that. lol.  I hadn't heard of the chocolate wax from Gigi.  Do you use it to wax other areas as well?

Hi Tami, I tried the gigi hard wax but never got comfortable  with it, guess I did not tried hard enough, because I used the chocolate wax for years and liked it. I only use the chocolate for the Brazilian because I have found that is picks up all hair, and it also picks up brittle hair. but it does hurt a little. as for as the other hard waxes I am trying its only because people say that they don't sting as much as soft. also I have a European wax not to far from me and people are talking about the hard wax, this is what pushed me to try the hard waxes. about the 5 min Brazilian I don't know if I could do that. how long have you been waxing?

Denise, For me I think the advantage to doing a brazilian with hard wax is less pulling.  Which I think helps with the discomfort.  As well as hard wax only needs the spatula to apply and I don't need adhere the strips to the wax.  In that area some clients feel uncomfortable with the any more contact than necessary.  Just my thought.

I have been doing brazilians for about 3 years.  Only maybe 2 clients a week tops.  I did attend a class that allowed hands on which really helped my technique.  Those poor women I practiced on.  That's all I can say.

Thank You for the info.

Yes it is a strip wax and does remove all hair. Love it!!

My favorite wax is Flora brand. You can get it from cosmoproshop.com It's a Pevonia wholesaler. They make soft and hard wax (disks). I've also experimented with Cerepil, and Satin Smooth's hard waxes and their new line of thin films. I always go back to the FLora.

I try to hold the skin as taught as I can when applying and pulling. There are pro's and con's to soft and hard waxes, but I am still perplexed by the "5 min Brazilians." I would love to hear the technique used for this, too.

I waxed with a technician once who put soft wax on on entire side, and took it all of in one strip. Then did the same on the other side. She had a huge following, I'm not comfortable doing that to my clients! I work my way inward with the hard wax. That's how I've always done it. A brand new Brazilian can take me 30 minutes, minimum.

Anyone know the mystical 5 minute secrets?

Wish I knew that 5 min brazilian, the flora brand you use does it claim to be almost painless., because I find all waxes do hurt maybe some less than others, wish I knew how to apply the hard wax does not hurt, I will try the flora brand, it's that what it's called? Thank you

Yes, it's called Flora. I do find it to be a very gentle wax. Good luck!

Nicci-does the Flora get the hair up? Even if something is more painful I rather use it if it isn't going to bruise but get the hair up....

Kim,

The Flora does get the hair up. It's not a polymer resin hard wax. It's the traditional european hard. It does work better than Cerepil if you've used that. I do love all Flora's soft waxes, as well. They have a huge selection of soft.

I use a soft wax and I do maybe four to 6 pulls and done! It can take me 10 min depending on the hair.

Amy, Im thinking I am going to try your way....strip with oil...Ive used oil with hard. I am going to try to use a different wax...I know a lot of it depends on technique, but some waxes just DONT get the hair up!!! Ugh!!! SO Amy, do you do the large strips? I used to do the Lycon hard on one side in one big pull,  then middle, then back....IF I was having a good day it would take 15 minutes.....Want to know how long you tell clients hair to be...I say fourth inch or grain of rice....and also, do you not get bruising?
