I would love to hear what all of you are successfully using to treat acne.  I find that at least 90% of my acne clients are dealing with hormonal problems and it can get quite frustrating trying to clear them up.  I personally struggled with hormonal acne for over 30 years and even with all the professional products and treatments I had at my disposal I still had trouble controlling it unless I was on the pill.  Please share what is working for your clients, in the treatment room and for home care.

I have heard really good things about this company over the last few months for their acne products.....here is the link to their FB page. Check it out, it might be what you need, you never know.  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Face-Reality-Acne-Clinic/27275809821

Sorry, just noticed @Deborah already mentioned this.  Oh well, you have two recommendations now! :)

Thank you Claire for posting that. I am Face Reality and I'm glad you've heard good things!

Hi Laurie - Laura here from Face Reality.  Acne is all that we do and we have a phenomenal success rate.  It's all about using the right products for the type of acne your (you) client has and using them in the right way.  Vivant does have great products (in fact, Dr. Fulton is my mentor) but what we have is more "increments" in product strength so you have more leeway in adjusting your client's routine, which is crucial in dealing with skin adaptation (getting too used to products).  We also have a real strong support system for dealing with challenging clients (we have seen it all here in our clinic).  Once you have a few key concepts under your belt, acne is relatively easy to treat. Another resource for you is a strong LinkedIn group called Acne Specialists and another one called Real Solutions for Acne.

I would love to help you with your acne clients - email me, if you like, at laura@facerealityacneclinic.com or call me 866-477-3077.

I treat hormonal breakouts like I would sensitive skin. Inflammation from hormonal imbalances combined with excess oil production leads to those deep pimples along the jawline. First I treat the inflammation (borage oil, cucumis sativa, aloe barbendesis, marigold, rose) with a moisturizing product meant for sensitivity. Then I start them on low grade TCA Peels (PCA skin), and alternate them with salicylic peels (also PCA skin). I do a series of peels, usually 4-6 before doing a down-time regimen of lactic acid cleanser/toner, a light retinol treatment, and continued use of the desensitizing moisture treatment to control inflammation and oil production.

If the results are not enough to get a handle on the acne I work with a dermatologist to consider new treatment therapies.
I start out with treatment facial with tea tree mud masks 10% glycatoner high frequency with extraction and/or galvanic, until its under some control (depending on the stage of acne)and once the weather cools will suggest a beta peel since it works best on acneic skin

I have heard good reviews of Zeroblem from Solvaderm Skincare Brand it dissolves excessive oils found on the skin's surface and Removes dead skin cells, dirt, and impurities from deep inside of pores that can result in clogging and painful skin eruptions, bumps, and redness.
