Hi everyone,

I am updating and revamping my menu of services- Question that I am asking everyone lately- What do you prefer?  When looking at a menu for spa services and body work do you like the ability to read abuot and see descriptions of the treatment, example- what it does, the origin where it came from, why it works, i.e., the facials, massage, body treatments, etc.  Or just line items, example- facial 50 min $0.00? Myself, I prefer the descriptions and history and everthing, though not sure if that is what everyone else is looking for?

I think descriptions are necessary. don't go overboard- but if all you have is a name and a price, people have no idea what they are getting. of course, they can always call... but people have such short attention spans anymore. if you're site doesn't grab them, they're on to another one!

I do have a website and it is all in order, I also keep menus on hand in my spa and pass them out any and every where. I am in a tourist area and my services are 50/50 local to tourist. I have been going out and collecting menus from the larger spas located in the larger Hotels and those outside of Hotels to price check and just see what is going on in my own 'backyard' so to speak. I've noticed a lot have the one line items, facial 50 min 0.00 and always wondered how anyone would know what they were getting. I am a single therapist and share a spa with a hair stylist. I offer skin care, massage and natural nails, eyelash tinting and limited waxing. I tend to specialize in more Asian modalities e. i, Champissage, Kansa Vataki, Fire Cupping, Ga Shau Facials, Thai Bundle Facials, Cold/Hot Stone Facials, as well as Mircodermabrasion and peels. I find that these services need the description, but a lot of people are telling me that no one has the attention span anymore to read? I have asked everyone on my business facebook the question on what they would like to see in the menu and they all say they would prefer the descriptions. I am just making sure it is the right move to make. Double checking myself if you will;) Thanks again for your input

  I have decription of my services listed in my brochure, website and on my on line scheduling. I find that people want to read and know about the different services available and what the treatment can do for them.  I like to cover all my bases becauses I have found that not everyone has a computer or access to the internet. Although we live in a tech world my older clients do not have the knowledge or know how to use a computer, let a lone surf the net.  Description is good.

I still use a description because you should inform and entice them to choose you and your treatments. I do agree that they shouldn't be too long. I say keep it as part of your menu in print and online.

I definitely like there to be a description. I think some items don't need it (there isn't much else you can say about a leg wax) but things like facials and body treatments totally need something beyond just the name and price.

Descriptions are a must in my opinion. Even if it is simple, I think people want an idea of what they are paying for and the benefits the treatment will give them.

Definitely write descriptions!  Makes your services look more attractive and more professional!  A well written brochure/menu pays for itself!

My menu is basically only descriptions of the different technologies that I use. What each one is and how it works. It's broken down into microdermabrasion, microphototherapy, microcurrent, LED light therapy and oxygen infusion.

I like to custom create each facial for the clients' needs and budget. So, having a menu that just focuses on what I have to offer gives me the chance to "wow" them with technology before talking money. They're already hooked at that point!
