just wanted to update on my new adventure as a business owner...
my second solo month is about to end, and it has been quite interesting how things are picking up in the last two weeks. I was freaking out the first two weeks of my second month, but somehow I am managing and paying my bills (YAY!!! lol PHEW). I started a groupon last week (which I think it's not really bringing many clients - only 1 purchased a groupon and a second one called me before getting the groupon but I honored the price meaning she paid me the full amount instead of going to groupon, teehee). I have listed myself on SpaFinder and so far one person has called from their search site which I think it's great! People at the salon have showed interest in getting facials, and I've been doing some facial sugaring which my few clients are loving now.
I've been doing major social media advertising though, and I have asked my clients to please review my public pages (yelp, google, facebook, etc.). I listed myself on basically all social networks lol (ie. instagram, twitter, facebook, google). Overall, I'm very happy with the response!!! Oh and I purchased a 4 day Ad on Facebook and gave me around 70 local "likers!!!!"
I may do another Facebook Ad next month, but it's great to get your Facebook page a kick! :)
I'm VERY HAPPY to finally have my own thing going. Life is great! <3

good for you! Congratulations on your new venture. I am opening mine in June! I can't wait.
Good Luck to you Karen!!! :) It's not easy but oh so worth it!
Congratulations!!!
I've recently opened my place, and just today my Groupon started. So far, no purchases.
I wish we have clients from Groupon but who purchase directly from us.
Have you looked at Schedulicity? I am a solo esthetician and I create ads with my on line booking. I am not a groupon fan. I also use constant contact and make up my own specials. Then you get it all!
Vanessa, is this site popular? I mean how do people find it?
I have it linked to all my stuff. you should
to look into it! Super easy and gets great results
do you already have a list of contacts you target to in constant contact? or how does that work?
Congrats!!! Keep it up. I launched a year ago February with my mentor & it's been feast or famine. Still building social media, word of mouth & networking. Always trying to stay fresh.
Does anybody else using SpaFinder? Does it worth to do it?
how about google ads? Actually, dont understand how it works, i signed up, they charged me 20$, in account i found that there were 13 clicks.
I signed up with free Spafinder acct and every redeemed card they will give me 78% of the amount. I think it's fair since I'm only getting 50% from groupon.
So client buys the card on their website, lets say for 100$, then come to you, you redeem it, and give services for 100$ and then you get the check from the spafinder? it is right?
I signed up with SpaFinder last month and it costs me $10/month. I get 83% of the card's value. I write that % off as advertising costs. Any charges over the card value is paid to you directly by the customer and that is 100% yours. In a month's time I have accepted $200 in cards for over $200 in services and more on product. I also had someone book online with me when they checked the SpaFinder site but didn't have a gift card. I got full pay on that one!
It does get you on their website which is huge. HOWEVER, several times I have checked to see that I am listed and I have not been! I have heard back from SpaFinder and they are "looking in to it." I think their IT department and customer service could be a little more responsive as I had to call 2x this week. Grrrrrr.....
