I have been in the industry for 17 plus years now and have had every scenario (from working in salons to my own practice). Over the years I have adjusted my days/weekends and finally as I move into my end of my career I have set my days/times to
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 10-3pm and (2) Saturdays a month from 9-1pm. After reviewing my appointment books the majority of my clients come between these times. Since I've adjusted my schedule not only does my body and hands thank me....so does my hubby!
Interesting. Tuesday, Wednesdays be a hit or miss with clients. Also with seasons I've noticed that some clients prefer to come in on a Friday, or while kids or in school. Some stylist clients come in on Mondays, and some even request Sundays as well.
I live in a very small town (under 4000) and I have had no luck with people wanting to come in on Saturdays. Weird I know but hey, frees up my weekend! My most requested times are always between 11-2.
You would think people would come in on a Saturday, but some may like to enjoy that as a family day, or doing other things. I remember while in school years ago, and while shadowing Saturdays were busy. Now I see people treat their facial appointments like going to the doctor, and wanting it during the week.
I still pull a few Saturdays to accommodate my working clients. That way it allows me to no longer work evenings and saves me from sitting in the HORRIBLE commute traffic in my area. :)
I may have one or two clients on a Saturday maybe every 2-3 months so I don't plan Saturdays unless someone asks. I've just opened Mondays and that seems to work. Mornings to afternoon are most popular with moms and grand moms and occasionally an evening for career women.
