We’re as confused as you are, Jennifer. Doesn’t really make sense. We need to educate the cosmo board better about LED, how it works, and the safety of the machine. We’re already in touch with one of the former board members and we will be working behind the scenes with industry experts to try and get answers”.
Thank you, Susanne. I'm so frustrated with this.
Nina, I'm sure its fine in New York...I believe you're able to do laser treatments as well right?
OK, this needs to be a big deal. What are other Esty's doing about this- how can I/we get involved? I saw the State Board had posted this on their Facebook page... so does this mean I'd get fined because of my LED handheld lights I've been using for over a year?
This is ridiculous, and if the SB wants to take away LED, you know microcurrent and peels are next. All Esty's in all States should be worried about this.
I would also like to know how to get involved in this! I don't understand how LED can be considered invasive, so ridiculous. Also, I was told by a fellow Esty that microcurrent also is considered an Invasive procedure and out of our scope of practice? Is that correct?
Ya, their definition is not helpful.
I use Image skin care, and Image uses marketing materials that Clearly state that Image skin care affects living tissue (the point in their advertisement being that OTC products do not).
Will I now be in trouble for using Image skin care...?
CA State board needs a lot of help.
I would be completely open to Cont Education requirements (weeds out the not serious estys) or a valid Master Esthetician license here in CA. SOMETHING more specific and useful from state board.
Our wonderful friends at ASCP are really on top of this and will keep us posted. There is a meeting in San Diego on October 21st at 10:00am (Courtyard by Marriott 595 Hotel Circle South San Diego, CA 92108). As many of us as possible need to be there!! I will be there. My crew from Celluma are also stepping up to do what they can regarding the technical info. They will be attending the meeting also.
Let's not go into mass hysteria......this has the possibility of working out for the good and bring some much needed changes!! But everyone does need to step up and use their voice.
Looks like I can be there as well! No mass hysteria, but I am ready for some real clarity. Three years ago when I became licensed (yes, newbie here) :) I already saw how unclear SB is here in CA, and it won't get better without some real direction for both the SB and the laws.
