Hey everyone!

We're having a small issue here at my spa.  We have recently brought in PCA peels and some of the other estheticians clients aren't "seeing the results they expected".   We had previously worked with Cosmetix and one of the other estheticians who has been here for a long time will always feel like nothing compares to Cosmedix.  Has anyone every worked with this line before and can maybe give me some advice?

Thanks!

~Beth

I like their skin care and peels, but really don't have alot of experience with them. At school we used PCA for peels and bioelements for facials. I've only been out of school since July, and as yet don't have much of a client base built up. I do know alot don't like the smell!

hey Deborah!

We also use Bioelements for our facials!  I think the two work well together... I've seen some great results with the peels while my clients are using their regular skin care instead of the prep from the company.

I use the detox treatment and the Sensi peel, but other than that I don't have experience.  Most people RAVE about their peels so thats strange!!  I love the detox pore treatment with steam!!

Sheila,

Love the Detox as well!  My only issue is the smell... haha.

Yes it's a very odd smell!  That was actually my whole issue with PCA and why I didn't choose them as my facial line because of smells and textures of products, some seemed so sticky.

They have 2 different retinol boosters: The Esthetique and the Ultra Peel II.  The first one is incredibly sticky and is really not forgiving if you want to put any mineral makeup over the skin following a treatment.  However, the Ultra Peel II is so creamy and smooth!  That's usually my go-to!

Beth PCA recently introduced 2 retinols all with .5 % pure ret. nightly use.

Clarity for acne/hyperpigmentation and Age Refining for me!  Also they hav the retinol renewal.

Where I have been asked to do both, I was told to do the micro before the peel, to help the chem penetrate easier, does the micro after give better exfoliating? I only have the diamond tip, would that matter? Thanks for letting me pick your brain.

Deborah,

I think the micro after would be contraindicated.  I would go for it a week after the service if the client hasn't fully peeled yet.  I had to do that for a client once that didn't get a retinol booster at the end of the treatment.  She still had the "mask" feeling a week after the treatment.  Once we did the micro, she started to peel and had great results!

I currently use CosMedix for peels and absolutely love them!

I think that it is just a different philosophy.

I took their class and used the peels for awhile, but didn't fall in love with them either.

Now there a LOTS of people that absolutely LOVE the peels and products.

I think it is wonderful that they have TCA and Modified Jessners that estheticians can use.

Hey Cindy,

I agree about the difference in philosphy of the company.  They take the turtle "slow and steady" approach.  But I have found that with a combination of Micro and a Retinol booster at the end, the client gets a pretty intense peel.  What was it about the peels that didn't make you fall in love with them?  What peel company are you using now?

I think I can agree as well. I took some of their classes as well. Good education, but couldnt fall in love with it.
