Hello-

New to the page and wondered if anyone knows of any continuing education classes in the Tampa/Orlando area for new to the field estheticians?  I would need something on the weekend.  Thanks for your help!

Thank you I will check these out!

You are in a great spot.  Go to the International Dermal Institute "IDI".  Best continuing education ever, which makes everything clear, and they have an office in Orlando and I think they have other locations in Florida.  They have 1/2 day classes, full week classes; after 5:00 pm classes.  I am in Port Charlotte, so I am much farther away.  Check into IDI.  You will be very happy.  When I first started I thought just enough to hurt somebody, IDI gave me confidence and knowledge to go out and get a paying job.  It also make me fall in love with our profession.  The more you know, the more you fall in love with what we do.

Good luck.

Gail Wagner

Gail,

I'm in a tough spot because IDI doesn't offer weekend classes and I can't really take much time off from my full time job.  I was actually emailing back and forth with them last week.  They have a 3 day course that I'm interested in, but again, that would require 3 days off from work and $375 so I'll have to see. Thanks for the advice!

Hi Colby, at least we are on the same page IDI is the best & you are so close.  I wait until season is at the end, and go to classes in the Summer.  Check out there 1/2 day classes, they may help.  They also have special guest speakers that come in for an evening.  Good luck, it is hard when you are 1st starting out, you need guidance and there is usually know one there to mentor you.

Be well,

Gail Wagner

You're right- it seems like I'm kind of on my own and I want to provide awesome services for people and not short change them on anything! I like the evening class idea- Ill keep an eye out for sure!

It sucks, you get out of school and you know enough to hurt someone.  I went straight to IDI, I learned the right way to do things and why.  Once you know the "why"s" you will be able to give amazing services.  I love what I do and how it I do it, People ask me what do you do for relaxation....I touch skin - a facial and see all of the stress go out of a person's face it is the most beautiful thing in the world for me.  IDI also had day classes, talk to your boss, they may want to help you with time and the $.  The better you are the more business they get.

Where do you live Gail- I should just have you teach me :)

Hi Colby, sorry it has taken me until now to answer.  I am in North Port (between Sarasota & Fort Myers).  Teaching is wonderful, I like to educate my clients, but don't ask me to pronounce the big $20.00 words!
