A couple things to keep in mind with Intuit vs. Square.  Square puts a hold on transactions over $1000 for 30 days.  Intuit does not.  Intuit has the option to talk to a real live person.  Square does not.

Square is still the new kid on the block and from the guy to developed Twitter.  Intuit has been in the credit card processing business longer than Square and is a much more solid company.  Plus my Intuit GoPayment account links to me Quickbooks program.  Much easier for me than during taxtime!

Mary,

Thank you for addressing the 30 day hold after $1000 with square.  Over all it all probably balances out in the long run. However, I do like that Intuit will link to Quickbooks.

I have been in business for 10 years and I pay my fair share and them some. If I could do it all over again I wouldn't even start with one. If your good and your clients love you they will find a way to pay cash or checks. That would be my recommendation.

Thanks for all the wonderful information. I use Mindbody, the reason I went with them is b/c they store clients credit card info. (last 4 + expiration date is all that you see for security purposes). It also verifies that the card is legit. I require a credit card to hold appointments. I like this for client who do no-show or cancel last minute. But the fees are much higher. Do these services have that feature? Thanks!

I use spa booker and love it. It is low cost and their credit card processing is reasonable.

I also have a hypercom T4220 credit card machine for sale at $200 (I paid $350). I only used it for six months since spa booker has their own credit card equipment, etc.
